Spider-Man star Tom Holland has been asked about his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars — and suggested he will be involved at some point.
Speaking with Cinemania, Holland noted that he had become known for accidentally leaking plot details (such as that time he revealed his character’s Infinity War death). Because of this, he argued, Marvel was now keeping “the juicy details from him.”
That said, Holland suggested he would be joining this year’s Avengers filming at some point (additional shooting is now ongoing for Doomsday, with Secret Wars set to begin filming this fall), essentially confirming his Spider-Man would appear. Which is… also kind of a spoiler.
“I don’t know a lot about those movies, I think by design,” Holland began. “I have a reputation for spoiling certain things, and I think the studios are keeping me from the juicy details. But when I do get to grace that set, I’m so curious — you know, what does that mean for Peter? And how does that work? I’m very excited about… whatever it is they’re doing.”
Holland is currently on the press tour for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which launches on July 31 and ensures audiences get at least one glimpse of his fan-favorite webslinger this year. Will he also appear in Doomsday? At this point, outside of a cameo, it seems unlikely. The bulk of the movie has been shot, and there are dozens of characters in it already who haven’t just had a summer blockbuster and who are in need of the screentime.
When it comes to Secret Wars, however — due in December 2027 — Holland’s appearance feels assured. As one of the main characters of the MCU and one of its most popular, the idea that he would miss out on the finale of the Multiverse Saga seems extremely unlikely. Especially as this seems a last chance for him to reunite with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men, before the MCU moves away from multiversal shenanigans to focus on mutants. (And speaking of mutants, Sadie Sink’s character is also reportedly in Secret Wars, after debuting in Brand New Day — providing another Spidey link.)
What will Holland be up to in Secret Wars? We may have a long wait to find out — if the actor doesn’t let it slip first, of course.
