1 Year Later, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s Home Release Is Now One Month Away

[

No anime has been the victim of its own success like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has. The world’s undisputed biggest anime film of all time has made headlines all across the globe for shattering numerous box office records. With high-quality animation, a heart-wrenching story, and some truly unforgettable action set-pieces, it’s easy to see why droves of fans stormed theaters to see Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle when it released in Japan on July 18th.

Unfortunately, since then, fans have only been met with disappointment when it comes to the future of Demon Slayer broadly and Infinity Castle specifically. The movie has been out for nearly a year now, and fans still have heard little about Infinity Castle‘s two promised sequels.

While some fans may be able to forgive that, given the sheer amount of time and talent that goes into making Demon Slayer, what fans have been less forgiving about is the first Infinity Castle film’s anticipated streaming release date. Despite dropping in the middle of 2025, it quickly became clear that Infinity Castle had zero chance of appearing on streaming services until 2026 at the earliest. As 2026 continued with no news of Infinity Castle, fans were left wondering if the film would even get a home release at all.

Then, in April, it was revealed that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was getting a Blu-ray and DVD release on July 29th. Unfortunately for fans across the globe, however, that July release is only coming to Japan.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s Home Release Date Is A Big Disappointment

In addition to the lack of a global release, Infinity Castle’s big home release is only coming to physical media with a DVD and Blu-ray. As of the time of writing, there is no news on any sort of streaming release, whether international or even in Japan.

Of course, enterprising fans who truly want to watch Infinity Castle at their leisure can still import the physical release from Japan, but with potentially high import costs and a long shipping time, that option will probably be reserved for only the biggest fans.

The result is that many in North America will simply have to wait for an official release in the region. While that feels inevitable, it’s easy to see how the wait has been especially frustrating. 2025’s other big anime movie, Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc, released on September 19th of 2025. Then, Chainsaw Man’s movie came to Crunchyroll on April 30th. Even that 7-month wait was considered a decent amount of time. For the biggest anime movie of all time to wait even longer feels absurd.

Is There A Light At The End Of the Tunnel For Demon Slayer’s North American Release?

Despite the agonizing wait, available evidence suggests Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is making its home debut in North America sooner rather than later. The film was released in North America on September 12th 2025, almost two months after its Japanese release. If Infinity Castle’s home release follows the same pattern as its theatrical one, then that could suggest that Infinity Castle will be coming to American homes toward the middle or end of September.

What remains to be seen, however, is whether the film will come to Crunchyroll or other streaming platforms around the same time. A simultaneous release on streaming and physical, while certainly consumer-friendly, might ultimately depress sales of the Blu-ray, as some fans might not feel the need to buy something they can stream.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle’s Streaming Delay Is Breaking Another Anime Record

Despite its success, Infinity Castle has been absent from streaming for over nine months, causing growing anticipation and frustration among fans.

The other question is where, exactly, Infinity Castle will stream. Logically, Crunchyroll makes the most sense. The anime streaming giant not only streams all seasons of the anime series, but it also helped with the theatrical distribution of Infinity Castle. That being said, Demon Slayer is now also on Hulu and Netflix, meaning North American streamers may currently be in a war to determine who gets rights to stream the highest-grossing anime movie of all time.

All of it creates a murky situation for fans eager to own a little piece of anime history for themselves. While Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle may be seeing a physical release in Japan on July 29th, international fans are still left in a holding pattern as they wait for any sign of the anime hit’s release outside of its native homeland.
