Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Wedding Eyed For Madison Square Garden In July

Following in the footsteps of Sly Stone and Kathy Silvia over 51 years ago, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce look to be getting married next month at Madison Square Garden.

Event, street closure and tenting permits for one of the “biggest events of the summer” have been filed with New York City agencies, the New York Times first reported today. Additionally, Big Apple law enforcement sources confirm to Deadline that NYPD and Penn StationAmtrak officers have been told the ‘Love Story’ singer/songwriter and the  Kansas City Chiefs tight end are getting hitched on July 3 at the fabled “world’s most famous arena.”

There appears to be some confusion about what roads near the Garden will or could be closed down for the Friday gathering — a situation made all the more harried by the proximity of Penn Station, ongoing FIFA World Cup tourism and seen-it-all NYC being NYC leaning into the July 4 shindig.

While the Swift camp did not respond when contacted by Deadline Wednesday on a wedding a venue or guests, it appears that several members of the Chiefs have booked hotel rooms near MSG for just before America’s 250th birthday. In total, if the event permits handed out to planners Winick Productions are any indiction, no more than “999 attendees” will be at whatever is scheduled for the venue next week.

Of course, this could all be a literally and figurative swift ruse on the part of the Miss Americana superstar and her Super Bowl winning fiancé. “Don’t be shocked if it turns out to be a small affair far away from the spotlight,” an industry vet close to Swift and Kelce says. “Maybe they’ll really get marred at the Sphere, they both like surprises, fake-outs,” the potential wedding guest added of the Vegas venue also owned by MSG boss Jimmy Dolan.

In the past few weeks, Swift does like surprises

On June 9, she surprised attendees at the L.A. premiere of Toy Story 5 with a performance of her ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ tune from the Disney/Pixar flick’s soundtrack. As well as taking the stage at Hollywood and Highland’s Dolby, Swift that night also sang a rendition of Randy Newman‘s classic ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ with the maestro himself. Soon after, on June 10, master marketer Swift appeared court side at MSG at Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals with pals the Haim sisters sporting a custom made tee that said “Steve Knicks” in the font of the hometown heroes and now NBA Champs the NY Knicks

Since Swift and New Heights podcast co-host Kelce announced their engagement online last summer, speculation has run rampant over when they would tie the knot, where and who would be invited among their wide A-list crowd. Throughout the saga of Blake Lively (who has Swift as a godmother to one of her and Ryan Reynolds‘ kids) and Justin Baldoni‘s now seemingly settled legal battle, for instance, whispers abound that Swift would not be inviting the It Ends With Us star to the nupitials because of the press and attention the case garnered and how the multi-Grammy winner kept getting dragged into it.

In the end, like the locked down, the invite only wedding itself at MSG, we’ll have to wait and see.

Having said that, the Garden has seen playoffs games galore over the decades, every performer possible (including Swift herself), as well as political conventions, award show, asinine Donald Trump rallies, a 1939 gathering of American Nazis and more. In terms of MSG weddings, the biggest in numbers had to be the mass marriages in 1982 when Reverend Sun Myung Moon of the controversial Unification Church joined 2,075 couples simultaneously in matrimony.

Before any Swift/Kelce union (if it happens), the biggest MSG wedding figuratively was back on June 5, 1974, the late, great Sly Stone and model Kathy Silvia got married in front of 20,000 fans as an opening act to a sold-out show by the Family Stone. Not to jinx anything, but in spite of all the hoopla (or perhaps because of it), Stone and Silvia separated six months later and were divorced by 1976.
