7 Brand-New Pokémon Winds & Waves Monsters Appear Online

As hard as it might be for older gamers to accept, 2026 marks 30 years since Pokémon first kicked off. Of course, we’re far from finished yet, because Pokémon is forever. Beginning in 2027, Pokémon Winds and Waves kicks off gen 10 with a huge new open-world game set in a brand-new tropical region surrounded by a vast ocean.

We don’t yet know what this new region is called, or what kind of Pokémon we’ll meet there, but there have been plenty of leaks lately. The game’s legendary monsters were recently teased online by a leaker, and now we’ve been given a (sort of) look at seven brand-new gen 10 monsters. It’s not exactly official, but if you want to start planning who’ll be joining Browt, Pombon, or Gequa on your journey next year, read on.

Video game leakers Centro Leaks, an account with a solid track record when it comes to Pokémon, recently teased seven all-new Pokémon with a cryptic image. Centro Leaks claims to have received this info from Billy, a well-known and reliable source in the world of Pokémon.

To be clear, the image shared by Centro Leaks does not show the Pokémon themselves, but teases what they might be. Let’s take a look at them one by one.

• A bird and a pirate. A bird Pokémon with a pirate-themed appearance seems likely. Flying/Water-Type maybe?
• A Vogelkop Tree Kangaroo next to a picture of an MMA fighter. I’d be amazed if this wasn’t some kind of Fighting-Type kangaroo, although I’m amazed that hasn’t already happened before now.
• A Komodo dragon Pokémon was previously leaked for Gen 10, which is very cool. Probably a Fire-Type, but you never know for sure.
• A long-beaked echidna Pokémon, that may be inspired by Overwatch‘s Ana, who fans of that game will know is a sniper. Odds are high we’ll be getting a Pokémon that uses its beak as a sniper rifle, which is the rawest thing I’ve ever heard.
• A tapir Pokémon, with some kind of relation to a statue of Buddha from Thailand. It’s worth noting Drowzee is based on tapir, so could this be a regional variant?
• A rabbit Pokémon that has something to do with the moon. It’s worth noting that the Moon Rabbit is a mythical figure in East Asian and indigenous American folklore, so this may be related.
• A knobbed hornbill Pokémon, that has something to do with the sun. Perhaps the rabbit (moon) and the hornbill (sun) are legendary or mythical Pokémon?

With Pokémon Winds & Waves officially set to launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, I’m sure it won’t be long until we get a proper look at these new critters. Watch this space.
