Black Clover’s Anime Return Just Showed Asta’s Final Animated Form And Honestly, It’s Perfect

It has been five long years since the Black Clover anime ended its television run, but the race to become the Wizard King is finally back on. Studio Pierrot showcased a new trailer during the July 4 Anime Expo panel at the Peacock Theater, and after years of waiting, this is exactly the kind of comeback fans wanted to see. The studio seems to have taken Black Clover‘s famous “push past your limits” line personally, because the anime has never looked this good.

The trailer barely gives viewers a second to breathe. Mereoleona Vermillion is going completely wild against a colossal ancient demon, while Noelle Silva steps up to finally settle the bloody score with Megicula and her host, Vanica. Yet neither of those moments ended up stealing the spotlight, as that honor went to Asta and the first proper animated look at his Devil Unite form.

After the brutal training with Nacht and finally forming an equal contract with his devil Liebe, Asta has unlocked the form that changes everything for him. Devil Unite gives the magicless boy the anti-magic power he needs to stand against the Dark Triad and the devils behind the Spade Kingdom invasion.

Just like the early teasers, Black Clover‘s new trailer moves incredibly fast. Blink for a second, and some of its best shots are already gone. The biggest takeaway, though, is that the anime clearly has no plans to ease fans back in after five years away. Episode 1 jumps straight into the Spade Kingdom Raid, which lucky fans at Anime Expo got to watch months before everyone else. For those who were not inside that screening room, Studio Pierrot dropped a new packed trailer to make the wait until Black Clover‘s October 2026 return a little easier.

Asta’s Devil Unite is obviously the big money shot, but he is far from the only one coming back with a serious upgrade. The Dark Triad has grown much stronger since the last time they fought the Magic Knights, and the trailer sneaks in a terrifying shot of Dante using 100% of his devil power, paired with a chilling voiceover confirming that the obstacle limiting their contracts has finally been removed. The gates to the underworld are open, and the demons are completely off the leash.

Vanica also gets a quick spotlight in the footage, giving off some seriously unhinged, scary vibes that perfectly set the tone for the absolute war ahead. Even with only a few seconds of footage, the trailer makes this war feel far bigger than anything the Magic Knights have faced before.

Studio Pierrot Proves Black Clover Is Ready To Reclaim Its Shonen Crown

Studio Pierrot also used the trailer to reveal Black Clover‘s new opening theme, “Keinai Riyuu” by WANIMA, a band that knows a thing or two about anime bangers. The three-piece rock group previously gave One Piece: Stampede its insanely hype “GONG,” followed by “Natsuake” for Gamera -Rebirth- and the recent “Furuboko” for Baki-Dou. With their loud, fast-paced rock now backing the Spade Kingdom Raid, WANIMA feels like a perfect match for Black Clover‘s chaotic return.

Black Clover has been away long enough to watch an entire new wave of shonen anime take over the conversation. Coming back after five years was never going to be easy. But with Mereoleona, Noelle, and Asta’s Devil Unite all looking this good, Studio Pierrot may have just reminded everyone why Black Clover became such a massive hit in the first place. The Magic Knights are finally back, and this time, they look ready to take over again.
