Pokémon Winds and Waves may have only released one trailer so far, but it’s given fans plenty to think about. This has naturally resulted in fan designs for everything from Grass-type Browt’s final evolution to a prospective new Ghost-type Eevee evolution. However, just like before the trailer arrived, leaks for the upcoming Gen 10 games keep on showing up online. One of these leaks shows off a new Pokémon that fans seem to absolutely adore.
This suggestion came from BallGuy on X back in April, and in the time since then, fans have rallied over the idea. The newest Pocket Monster is allegedly a flying fish. It’s supposedly a new Basic Pokémon, and while no evolutions were shared, a lot of past mainline games have given us a new bird evolutionary line for new regions. Is this flying fish-like Pokémon going to be next Rookidee or Wattrel? Or will it be more like Cramorant? Only time will tell, and we’ll also have to wait to see if the leak is legit or not.
Over on Reddit, the reception for this new Pokémon has been a warm one. “I hope this is real,” reads one of the comments.
“Is so majestic…” reads another.
As various users pointed out, a flying fish-type Pokémon has been scrapped from previous generations more than once, so it’s entirely possible Winds and Waves is bringing back some of those earlier designs for Gen 10. Of course, it’s also worth mentioning that a flying fish would perfectly encapsulate the dynamic of winds and waves. It would certainly be on theme.
As with any leak, however, it’s best to take this one with a grain of salt. Nothing about this new flying fish Pokémon has been officially confirmed, and it’s nowhere to be seen in the reveal trailer for Winds and Waves that aired during February’s Pokémon Presents, despite seeing quite a few fish and birds in that video.
Even though a number of designs for new Pokémon have appeared online, the only ones that have been officially confirmed are the new Gen 10 starters. That being said, this idea of a flying fish sounds pretty cool, and it would certainly make sense for games called Pokémon Winds and Waves. Considering fans’ positive responses here, it’ll hopefully turn out to be true. Until we see more from the Gen 10 games next year, we won’t know for sure.
