Few films this summer are more anticipated than Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Not only is it Tom Holland’s return to kick off a new era for the MCU’s Spider-Man following the multiversal epic that was No Way Home, but it’s also coming near the end of the Multiverse Saga itself with the culminating Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. With that in mind, it’s exciting to think about how Brand New Day might set up one or both of the upcoming Avengers films.
Based on Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s trailers, the movie looks to be far more street-level than No Way Home, with the MCU’s Peter Parker entering a more classic, grounded era of his life. However, there are still ways the new movie could set up Doomsday and Secret Wars. Between the return of Bruce Banner’s Hulk and speculation about Sadie Sink’s mysterious new MCU character, there are certainly some exciting opportunities for Brand New Day to tee up the next major crossovers.
Although Marvel Studios is no doubt keeping some of its biggest surprises hidden, here are some of the biggest speculations and most likely theories as to how Peter Parker’s next MCU adventure can set up Avengers: Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.

A Permanent MCU Spider-Man Suit
One of the coolest confirmed aspects of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Spider-Man’s new costume. Confirmed to have been inspired by elements of both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s iconic suits, the new and more grounded costume design feels like a perfect (and definitive) culmination of Peter Parker’s MCU journey, especially considering his first trilogy.
Unlike previous suits featuring Stark technology, AI systems, and robotic arms, this new suit represents Peter Parker relying on his own skills, style, and ingenuity. Keeping that in mind, it’s a key reason why there are some big hopes that this suit will become permanent even after Brand New Day. Rather than debuting a new suit with nearly every new appearance, it’d be great to see the same suit when and if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man appears in Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.
Likewise, it could also be a nice way to symbolize Peter’s new growth and maturity going forward as a fully realized Spider-Man.

Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
Without question, one of the biggest mysteries surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of its release is actress Sadie Sink and the major mystery behind who she’s actually playing in the MCU.
While Marvel has yet to confirm her character (who appears to be a major mind-controller), every major theory and piece of speculation points to Sink playing a new version of the X-Men’s Jean Grey. If that proves true, Spider-Man: Brand New Day could become one of the MCU’s biggest steps toward establishing its own X-Men native to Earth-616.
This could be particularly important ahead of Avengers: Secret Wars. While multiversal versions of The X-Men are set to appear during Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios is reportedly transitioning toward a long-term MCU X-Men franchise once the Multiverse Saga concludes.
Keeping that in mind, introducing a new Jean Grey beforehand could help establish certain members of the future X-Men early, perhaps even allowing them to play a role in Doomsday or Secret Wars, while also laying the groundwork for the MCU’s next major era once the Multiverse Saga concludes.

A Permanent Return For Savage Hulk
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is not just bringing back Bruce Banner’s Hulk. It’s bringing back “Savage Hulk”, rather than the merged Smart Hulk version of the character who debuted in Avengers: Endgame. While Banner merging his consciousness with the Hulk’s made sense for the character’s journey in the MCU, many MCU fans have still been hoping for a return to the more classic rage monster, which is finally happening with this upcoming appearance.
However, it’s not yet been confirmed if this reversion back to Savage Hulk will stick. If there is a permanent change back to form, that’d be pretty exciting news when and if Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk returns in one or both of the next Avengers movies. Hopefully, we’ll learn whether the new Savage Hulk change will remain by Brand New Day’s ending.

A More Powerful Spider-Man
The trailers for Spider-Man: Brand New Day have confirmed that Peter Parker’s abilities are rapidly evolving, granting him enhanced and heightened abilities, including new organic webs. However, there will also be new, more primal changes, with Spider-Man experiencing moments of uncontrolled aggression.
Assuming Peter Parker can eventually get a handle on his new powers as the trailers suggest, it’s going to mean that the MCU is going to have a far more powerful Webslinger going forward. This will no doubt have some very cool implications when and if Spider-Man appears in the next Avengers movies.

Restoring Spider-Man’s Official Avengers Status
Since the fallout of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s been confirmed that Spider-Man will have effectively been operating alone since Doctor Strange’s spell, at least when it comes to Avengers he’s fought alongside in the past. However, perhaps things will change in the aftermath of Brand New Day. It could be the perfect opportunity to reconnect Spider-Man with more of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, especially considering the involvement of founding Avengers like Bruce Banner.
As such, it would be pretty cool to see Spider-Man as an official Avenger again ahead of the major multiversal threats we’ll soon be seeing in the next two crossovers (even if the heroes don’t know who he is under the mask).
3
A Symbiote In The MCU?
Ever since the post-credit scenes of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and No Way Home (and even earlier), many fans have been eager for a Spider-Man Symbiote Saga in the MCU. As such, setting up a symbiote storyline in Brand New Day could be perfect timing. After all, Spider-Man first came into contact with the Venom symbiote during the comics’ first Secret Wars storyline back in the 80s. It’d certainly be a great homage to see the MCU’s Peter Parker debuting his own black alien suit in the upcoming Avengers movie.
2
Spider-Man Sensing An Imminent Incursion
If Marvel Studios really wants Spider-Man: Brand New Day to have a connection to the end of the Multiverse Saga, an incursion tease could be a really cool way to do it. The concept of colliding realities has continued to be a danger in this current saga, particularly after 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Likewise, the threat of incursions is expected to be the main crisis in Avengers: Doomsday, explaining the appearance of multiple hero teams from different realities. As such, it would be pretty cool if the ending of Spider-Man: Brand New Day saw Peter Parker’s newly heightened spider-senses going off ahead of an imminent incursion threatening the whole of Earth-616.
1
A Doomsday Post-Credits Scene
Recent MCU projects have been directly setting up Avengers: Doomsday with their post-credits scenes. Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have all focused on the coming crisis in Doomsday and Doctor Doom himself. As such, it certainly feels likely that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will follow suit.
Whether it’s another appearance from RDJ’s Doctor Doom himself, an incursion threat as previously mentioned, or even the first real trailer for Doomsday, Brand New Day’s post-credits scene does feel like one of the most likely places to set up the future Avengers movies. At any rate, it should be pretty cool to see in what ways the next Spider-Man movie sets up Doomsday and/or Secret Wars.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on July 31st from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
