Invincible Officially Returns This Week With A New Season

Airing on Prime Video and based on the comic book series of the same name, Invincible aired back in 2021 and was swiftly met with critical success. Now consisting of four seasons, with another two already announced, the adult animated superhero show created by Robert Kirkman follows the story of Mark Grayson, a human-alien hybrid who becomes a crime-fighting hero known as “Invincible.”

Starring the likes of Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, and Sandra Oh, Invincible has also welcomed a prequel special, Invincible: Atom Eve, back in 2023, but that is not the only spin-off release that fans should look out for.

Released back in April, Invincible VS is a “brutal superhero 3v3 tag fighting game set in the Invincible universe.” Developed by Quarter Up, this epic 2D fighter will see you fight to the death as you take on the role of the franchise’s most iconic characters. As you master bone-breaking combos, smart defensive tactics, and leave a trail of blood and destruction in your wake, you will soon discover the true powers behind Invincible’s best superheroes.

“Invincible VS features a variety of game modes including a captivating cinematic story mode with an original narrative from a writer of the animated series,” the official synopsis reads. “Jump into Arcade and battle with your team, hone your combos in Training mode, and test your skills against the world in competitive and casual multiplayer. Show, comic fans, and fighting game lovers will experience unparalleled heroic brutality, where every earth-shattering blow will leave you feeling… Invincible.”

However, following its success, Invincible VS is back this month with the launch of its first season and to welcome its arrival, two new superheroes have been added to the game’s roster: The Immortal and Universa. Not only that, but Invincible VS Season 1 also adds a ranked leaderboard, new customization, and quality-of-life changes.

Whilst The Immortal offers impressive air combos, a precise fighting style, and the ability to revive if three bars of the Super Meter are filled, Universa has the ability to steal other character’s boost meter. Using force fields, siphoning attacks, and arc projectiles, Universa is also no stranger to hand-to-hand combat.

With fans already enjoying the introduction of The Immortal and Universa, it seems as though Invincible VS is on the right track, especially when it comes to the competitive fighting game genre. Not only that, but with just one season under its belt, the future is already looking bright for the Invincible-inspired video game, with Season 2 expected to drop in October, with Season 3 following in December. With plenty of events and updates expected in between, now is the perfect time to get into this hit fighting game.
