The Lego Group has been on a roll with collaborations this summer, and the brand’s latest partnership has them teaming up with The Pokémon Company on five new additions to the pre-existing build-and-display Pokémon sets.
Among the new collection are fan favorites Arcanine, Rayquaza and Munchlax. Also available for pre-order is the Up-Scaled Red Minifigure, standing at over 10 inches tall with fully posable arms, legs, hands and head. The standout is the Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball, featuring Red, Picnicker, Professor Oak, Eevee and Pikachu minifigures. When opened, the Poké Ball reveals a battle scene in the bottom half and Professor Oak’s laboratory — complete with a library, computers, Poké Balls and 2 Pokédex tiles — on top. The 2,386-piece set will ship beginning on Oct. 1.
Previous Pokémon x Lego collaborations include Pikachu’s Training House, Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle, Mewtwo’s Lab Break and Umbreon vs. Garchomp Championship Battle, all of which are compatible with LEGO’s cutting-edge Smart Play technology, allowing the figurines to react to play in real time.
This news comes days after Lego announced its Olivia Rodrigo collectible sets tied to the release of her third studio album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.” Other standouts from the past year are the “KPop Demon Hunters” sets inspired by film characters Derpy and Susie Bird, “The Simpsons” Krusty Burger Set and a 9,000-piece “Star Wars” Death Star set containing Emperor Palpatine’s throne room and Princess Leia’s detention cell.
The new LEGO Pokémon sets are all available for pre-order at LEGO.com/Pokémon, with prices ranging from $69.99 to $299.99.
