Lady Gaga scored her sixth-ever Emmy nomination (or fifth, depending on how picky you want to be) for her attention-grabbing “The Dead Dance,” the song she wrote for Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday that landed her a nod today in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category.
Written and produced by Gaga and Andrew Watt and Henry Russell Walter (aka Cirkut), “The Dead Dance” was featured in the series’ second-season episode “Woe Me The Money.” The much-viewed scene – watch it below – has Enid (Emma Myers) and Agnes (Evie Templeton) dancing to the song during the Venetian Gala.
Gaga also released her own video of the song (watch that below too).
In the Emmy category announced today, “The Dead Dance” will compete against “Raise Him Up” from The Boys; “Mis Figuritas” from Hacks; “Need Someone” from The Pit; “Christian Woman” from South Park; and “The Devil You Know” from Spider-Noir.
Today’s nomination is Gaga’s fifth for a Primetime Emmy:
- In 2022 she was nominated in the Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) category for hosting One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga;
- In 2017 she was nominated in the the Outstanding Special Class Program for her Super Bowl LI Halftime Show;
- In 2015 she was nominated as Executive Producer for Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek Live! in the Outstanding Variety Special category;
- And in 2011 she was nominated as both Performer and Executive Producer for The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden in the Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special.

As for that sixth nomination (a win, by the way) Gaga took home a Sports Emmy in 2025 for Outstanding Music Direction for her pre-game performance of “Hold My Hand” at Super Bowl LIX.
