Cyberpunk 2077 Meets Baldur’s Gate 3 In New Free PS Plus RPG

This is going to be one of the most important years for PlayStation Plus yet. Although the service went through some formative growing pains, it eventually blossomed into the service we know now, with a decent selection of Game Catalog titles, and more regularity when it comes to AAA game drops.

But Sony is also in a tough spot. It’s currently getting a lot of justified flak for announcing that they’re going to stop physical disc production in 2028, ushering in an uncertain digital era where ownership is murkier. Xbox is expected to follow suit, leaving Nintendo as the sole physical purveyor for the foreseeable future.

For now, though, you can enjoy a new game on PlayStation Plus that evokes Baldur’s Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 vibes.

Out on July 28 in the US, UK and Japan on PlayStation Plus, Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector is hitting the PS5.

Here’s a quick blurb to give you an idea of what the game is about: “You are a sleeper, an emulation of a human mind housed in an artificial body. You are on the run from the corporation that made you and the gang that seeks to control you. Commandeer a ship, build a network of crew and allies, and take on challenging contracts as you seek to build a future for yourself. Currently, Citizen Sleeper 2 is enjoying good reviews, including a “very positive” rating on Steam. Fans seem to enjoy the deep systems included in Citizen Sleeper 2: “A great iteration on the original. Story based, fun, the contracts feel tense and there’s a fair bit of decision making that’s actually meaningful.”

However, some cite its high difficulty and learning curve, and lack of quality of life: “But the real reason I’m giving this a thumbs down is because the game doesn’t let you hard save. It says ‘trust me, bro’ with its autosaves. Some might cry foul because of the Contract sub-game. Me? I just lost my save because of a power surge; after regaining power, my save was gone.”

No matter what side of the fence you ultimately stand on, you can try Citizen Sleeper 2 out later this month on PlayStation Plus. It’s the perfect kind of depth-filled game that you’ll want to try out before you decide it’s worth investing in.
