Despite Mexico playing a large role throughout the events of Red Dead Redemption, the same cannot be said for Red Dead Redemption 2. Instead, the beloved sequel saw players explore a fictional American Frontier, traveling through various different states across Central America and the Caribbean.
Although Mexico can be found in Red Dead Redemption 2‘s game files and feature assets such as the town of Escalera, unlike Red Dead Redemption, it is out of bounds for Arthur. As a prequel, it makes sense that the story reveals how John Marston ended up in Mexico, but for those who enjoyed the setting of the first game, it was a shame to not be able to revisit it in all of its next-gen glory.
That being said, in recent years, modding groups have been working on a way to bring Mexico to Red Dead Redemption 2, and the results can be found in the Nuevo Paraiso mod. However, if you are not a fan of modding, there is a way to travel to the out-of-bounds area and one YouTube video shows us exactly how to achieve it.
Since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, there have been plenty of videos dedicated to showing players how to use a glitch in order to get to a brand-new area of the map. However, YouTuber One Glitch is back with the latest version, showing us the “latest method” on how to achieve it.
First things first, players will have to head to Tumbleweed, a town located in the Gaptooth Ridge region of New Austin. Once here, you will need to head to the coast and walk into the water until it is chest high. Now, go to first-person mode and look in the opposite direction of Mexico, otherwise known as the out-of-bounds area.
Once you have done this, you will need to go to your inventory and select the Common Bullrush from your Ingredients tab. In a bizarre turn of events which makes you wonder how people work these glitches out, eating the ingredient will make you sick, sink you beneath the water and gradually push you in the direction of Mexico.
After some time of looking at your own vomit, you will soon arrive in Mexico and although there will be nothing here to interact with, you will still be able to summon your mount and ride around. I’m not sure why this would be entertaining, but hey, the option is there if you want it.
With many fans hoping that Mexico will make an official return alongside a potential Red Dead Redemption 3, it remains to be seen what Rockstar has in store for us next.
