Demon Slayer X Berserk Crossover Teased

While games like Fortnite have made it so seeing just about any combination of characters in the same room is more than feasible at this point, it’s still rare to see legendary franchises meeting up in other projects. Although some of the most popular franchises have managed to slip a few crossovers with each other through the cracks of the gaming world, or with projects like Jump Force, a recent announcement has anime fans losing their minds.

Having already collaborated with big-budget anime franchises like Tokyo Ghoul, Attack on Titan, and the works of Junji Ito in the past, this long-running game is now setting its sights on some of the most popular anime of all time like Chainsawman, Berserk, Demon Slayer, and dozens of other iconic franchises to bring into its ever-expanding roster.

Dead by Daylight

While it took the 1v4 horror game 6 years after its release before it started adopting anime franchises into the mix, the developers of Dead by Daylight recently put out a survey to ask players what franchises they want to see added to the game based on a curated selection of options, which fans like Fleyta_Fley on X that has fans everywhere losing their minds.

Even though the Dead by Daylight survey has had a fairly mixed reception from players criticizing the inclusion of out-of-place franchises like Teletubbies and Among Us, or celebrities like Harry Styles and Drake that “feels illegal” to include at all, plenty of others have been jumping for joy and saying things like a “Berserk Chapter or Paragraph would be peak“.

With fans from dozens of fandoms coming out of the woodwork in support of their franchises for the survey, you can find the list of all the anime included in the crossover poll here:

• Highschool of the Dead

While it would be great to see any of these anime/manga get the spotlight in DBD, even if it’s just in the form of paid cosmetics like Attack on Titan, users like PlainSightMan on Reddit pointed out that “Jujutsu Kaisen has appeared on the last three surveys but is now absent…,” which could suggest that it’s the next anime after Tokyo Ghoul to get the horror adaptation treatment.

Of course, while much of the excitement comes from seeing survivors and killers that players have requested for years finally being acknowledged by the developers of Dead by Daylight, it also offers the possibility to see some of the wildest anime crossovers we’ve ever seen, at least outside of fighting games or battle Royales like Fortnite.

Given that the most recent DBD collaboration that added the legendary Jason Vorhees managed to help the game break its peak player count on Steam, there are plenty of incentives for DBD to lean more heavily into licensed collaborations, with fans pointing out that Death Note, Berserk, and Chainsaw Man are the most likely to make the cut since “they have a history of video games or collaborations with video games that are highly in demand or uncontraversial.“‘

While it’s unlikely that all the anime on the survey will ever make it into the full game, the continued popularity of Kakeki as one of the game’s most played killers, according to NighLight.gg, adds even more fuel to the fire of Dead By Daylight‘s potential anime renaissance, which could offer some wild anime collaborations in its near future that we can’t wait to see for ourselves.
