12 Hidden Features In Palworld That Will Improve Your Experience

[

There is so much to explore in the survival game, Palworld, but not everything is explained in totality. Even things as simple as how to get Pal Fluid can be confusing, which lends itself to discovering hidden features as people continue to experiment and explore in the open-world title. Some of these features are hidden behind special button presses, while others rely on the physics and gameplay systems in the world. Regardless, knowing about these hidden features and mechanics can make a Palworld experience much more fun.

While learning the core concepts of the game, like farming and crafting, can be a fun journey in itself, there are a few features that most won’t know about unless they randomly discover them. These features can either be quick QoL enhancements or totally change how one plays the game. More tooltips that outline some of these mechanics would be helpful, but without those, learning these hidden features will vastly improve anyone’s Palworld experience.

Slide And Glide To Gain Momentum

Hills Create Momentum

One of the most useful technology unlocks in Palworld is the Parachute or Glider. Though it does require a pretty steep drop, there is fall damage in Palworld. One way to mitigate the damage taken by falling is by constructing a Normal Parachute that unlocks in tier 5 of the tech tree, with the Mega and Giga Glider becoming available later. While this might be obvious, what’s less obvious is that sliding into a glide down a hill will propel the character forward at a fast momentum.

Certain Pals also have items that turn them into gliders, like Celaray’s Gloves.

To perform the slide maneuver, run forward on a declined hill and hold the crouch button, which is default C on the keyboard and B on the controller, then double-tap jump to get air and deploy the parachute or glider. This is a great solution to use before getting a faster flying mount in Palworld.

Use The Autostack Feature For Quicker Inventory Swaps

Unload Resources Quickly

Using the Reload ammo button while having an item selected in the inventory will transport them into boxes that already contain the resource without having to move them individually. This is a super quick way to unload after collecting items in the world and a huge time saver in the long run. In addition, though it’s fairly obvious, using the Sort button on the top right of the inventory screen will neatly organize the items as well.

Rewards, Treasure, And Eggs Respawn

Revisit Old Chests For More Treasure

While it may not be totally obvious at first, re-treading the same ground may be useful as chests actually respawn after a set amount of time. Revisiting old chests is an easy way to get rewards without having to do much work.

Similarly, egg spawn locations are fixed and will respawn. The size of the egg can vary with each respawn however, so they will not be exactly the same each time.

Butcher Pals To Remove Them From The Paldeck

Collect 10 Pals To Level Up Quickly

Other than taking out bosses, the best and quickest way to level is to collect 10 of each Pal. This provides some of the best XP in the game, with experienced gain increasing the more times one collects the same type of Pal. That said, once this is accomplished, chances are there will be a ton of unneeded Pals in the Pal Box. To remove unneeded pals, it’s possible to butcher them using the Meat Cleaver. This mechanic will save time from sorting through multiple Pals pages and provide resources for the butchering efforts.

Mounted Pals Have Separate Cooldowns

Easily Double Your Abilities

It can be really convenient to use a mounted Pal’s abilities while mounted, primarily because you can actually then do the abilities twice. Mounted Pal abilities have a separate cooldown from a regular cooldown. So, after you use the Pal’s abilities, you can hop off of them and have the Pal use the same abilities again.

Assign Pals To Specific Tasks

Be A Palworld Micro-Manager

Being able to lift Pals isn’t only a fun thing to do; it serves a practical purpose for Pals at the base. When Pals are left to their own devices, they’ll just work on whatever random task they’re able to. This could cause disruptions in production lines, so instead, people should assign pals to specific workstations by picking them up and then throwing them at the structure. The Pals will continue to work at that station until told otherwise, which will increase the efficiency of production.

Pals’ work speed can be increased by building a Monitoring Stand, but it will decrease their Sanity.

Capture Traders Or Black Marketeers To Sell Goods

Keep A Trader In The Pal Box

Unlike the often-compared Pokémon series, in Palworld, it’s possible to catch virtually everything, including other humanoid NPCs. Though doing so will get you in trouble and ultimately bring the attention of guards, who will chase characters to the ends of the island (and may result in death), it is more than possible to capture humanoid NPCs.

That said, outside of a few select characters, Pals typically perform better than their human NPC counterparts — unless you’re capturing a trader. Keeping a merchant of any form at your base will give you easy access for trading. Just don’t think too much about the morality of it.

Merchants Don’t Have To Take Up A Pal Slot At Your Base Though!

Sneakily Keep Them Like A Zoo Animal Instead

Previously, when most people would capture a trader, they would store them in their Pal Box, summon them to a base, and trade with them at their convenience. This is much easier than fast-traveling and finding the trader again, though it will attract some heat from Guards in the game.

However, with Palworld 1.0, it’s been discovered that merchants can be placed in viewing cages instead. You can still trade with them this way, and it does not use up a pal slot at the base. Plus, if you want to get creative in saving space, try putting them up in the air since the Pals don’t need to access it.

Use Rare Skill Fruit Trees To Empower Pals

Expand Pal Skills

There are various glittering withered trees around Palworld that contain special Skill Fruits. When fed to a Pal, these will provide them with a new ability, regardless of the Pal Type. This is a useful way to expand the skills of regularly used Pals or to swap out a skill that isn’t desired. These Skill Fruit trees spawn all over the world, and the fruit on them respawns after a set amount of time, just like chests and other loot, so make sure to revisit them.

Use A Grappling Gun If You’re Encumbered

An Item To Help When Stuck

More than just a way to get up high cliffs, the Grappling Gun in Palworld is a useful tool to use when carrying too many items. In Palworld, when completely over-encumbered, the character won’t be able to move at all. This can come especially useful in base if there’s a situation where unloading or organizing resources, as it’s more than possible to pick up too much by accident.

If stuck while grappling to a Supply Crate, switch weapons to disconnect from the grappling hook.
