Fallout Returns With Surprise New Mini-Season

The Fallout franchise is in an okay place right now, particularly after developer Bethesda Game Studios decided to break cover and finally give players an update on what exactly is going on. We now know that there are remakes for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas on the way, as well as getting confirmation that pre-production has finally begun on Fallout 5.

As exciting as all of that is, given how little movement there has been on the gaming front over the last few years, it doesn’t really help us players in the here and now. To get our fix in the meantime, we have to look at the existing roster of games, and the best option for that is probably Fallout 76, if you’re happy to work with the multiplayer elements.

As confirmed over on the official Fallout Twitter/X profile, the new Summer Sock Hop Mini Season is now live in Fallout 76 as part of the major Infestations update. As the name suggests, thise little moment in the game is all about having fun and dancing, despite the apocalyptic setting you find yourselves in.

There are a bunch of challenges available to players who are looking to earn tickets as well, and it’s one of the more easy sets of criteria to hit that we have seen in the game to date.

The ticket rewards for completing activities during the first week of the mini-season are as follows:

• Complete a Week 1 Summer Sock Hop Challenge (x7) – 145 Tickets
• Kill a Blood Eagle while on a Team – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote at Berkeley Springs – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote at Black Bear Lodge – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote at Camden Park – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote at Sandy’s Sock Hop – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote at another Player’s C.A.M.P. – 15 Tickets
• Use the “Shimmy Dance” Emote during an Event or Activity – 15 Tickets

The event is set to run until August 4, with a new set of challenges at the start of the second week on July 28.

If you’re willing to overlook some of the issues that the game has had over the years, Fallout 76 really is in a pretty good state right now. There’s also plenty of juicy Fallout lore to explore while we wait for the developer to create new games for us to work through.
