Interview With The Vampire Season 4 Announced In First Official Trailer

Interview with the Vampire is destined for more life.

AMC has officially confirmed Interview with the Vampire season 4 at San Diego Comic Con, revealing how the series will follow up Lestat’s powerhouse performance. The Vampire Lestat recently ended on AMC, bringing the first part of Lestat’s chapter of The Vampire Chronicles adaptation to a close. Showrunner Rolin Jones recently revealed intentions for Interview with the Vampire season 4, which would be the second half of Lestat’s story following his world-shattering concert in Montreal. However, upon the end of the season, there was no confirmation if season 4 would be happening.

Now, during a panel at SDCC, for which ScreenRant was in attendance, AMC confirmed Interview with the Vampire season 4, revealing what to expect from the follow-up to The Vampire Lestat. Season 4 of the series will be titled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, pulling from the title of Rice’s third book in The Vampire Chronicles series. Executive producer Hannah Moscovitch will be stepping in as showrunner, replacing Rolin Jones, who served as showrunner in the first three seasons.

In addition, while speaking about The Vampire Lestat, actor Jacob Anderson, who plays Louis, explained how the beheading sequences in the season finale were some of the most difficult scenes he’s worked on in the series. Delainey Hayles also revealed her scenes as Claudia in the show were filmed in a day, getting her monologue done perfectly in one take, only recording another for safety.

The Vampire Lestat earned critical acclaim upon its release, the show scoring a Certified Fresh 98% on Rotten Tomatoes based off 81 critic reviews. Its chronicling of Lestat’s rock band tour, the aftermath of Interview with the Vampire‘s release, and the inner workings of its new protagonist laid the groundwork for a compelling follow-up. This is especially apparent at the end of the season, when Lestat overlooks a destroyed Montreal the early morning after his concert. The show has plenty to follow up on, and many more new ideas to introduce.

In the book series, The Queen of the Damned directly follows Lestat’s major concert and the consequences therein, focusing on different characters’ perspectives in the process. For the TV show version, the series still has to explore how Interview with the Vampire‘s characters end up at the auction for Lestat’s music and his personal recordings, titled The Failures. There’s also bound to be widespread consequences for the devastation his last concert caused on a global scale.

Interview with the Vampire remains the pillar of AMC’s Immortal Universe, a collection of shows in the same world pulled from the pages of Rice’s novels. The next release in the franchise is Mayfair Witches season 3, set to be a reinvention of the series that arrives in 2027. As for Queen of the Damned, given The Vampire Lestat only ended five days prior to writing this article, there’s no guarantee as to when the series will be coming back.

Even so, Queen of the Damned is the most logical next step for Interview with the Vampire‘s future, staying the course of following the series one book at a time. However, as the inclusion of Armand’s backstory and Raglin James have shown, the series isn’t afraid to dip its toes into potential future storylines as well. This means plenty of surprises await as The Vampire Lestat‘s follow-up goes into development.
