Following the movie’s major success at the box office, where it earned a remarkable $684 million worldwide, the simply stunning adaptation of Andy Weir‘s novelProject Hail Mary has continued its run on streaming. For almost 20 days, the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller-directed masterpiece, which stars Ryan Gosling as a high school teacher turned Earth’s savior, has topped the Prime Video streaming charts as it further cements itself as the best sci-fi movie of the year.
Gosling’s sci-fi epic is also expected to be noticed during awards season, with many touting the film for a Best Picture nod, a Best Actor nomination, and plenty of recognition in the technical categories. Although it’s easy to find oneself gushing over the year’s best sci-fi movie, it isn’t the only film of its kind to find streaming success at the moment. Another is perhaps the most underrated sci-fi effort of 2026 so far, the hilarious, twisted dark comedy, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
From the moment Sam Rockwell‘s man from the future appears in a diner and starts recruiting customers with the nonchalance of someone who has been here many times before, viewers were hooked on Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The film earned plenty of praise following its premiere at the Fantastic Fest in 2025, where it scored positive reviews from critics, which eventually led to an 82%, “certified fresh” rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. Five months after its theatrical release, Gore Verbinski‘s first film since the 2016 psychological horror A Cure for Wellnessis a streaming hit in America. At the time of writing, Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is one of the most-streamed movies on Hulu.

Sadly, it became one of the year’s biggest sci-fi flops so far, earning just $9.1 million against a reported budget of $20 million. Nevertheless, this streaming success following a disappointing theatrical run suggests viewers are starting to realize their mistakes.
