Ryan Reynolds’ new Marvel appearance raises questions of whether he is in Avengers: Doomsday. The next MCU Avengers movie has put together quite the cast. Avengers: Doomsday’s ensemble will feature many heroes from the shared universe and other multiverse characters, including the Fox X-Men. James Marsden’s Cyclops, Ian McKellen’s Magneto, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and more mutants will be back for the film.
That said, of the MCU characters who showed up in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the only mutant-focused project in the MCU thus far, only Channing Tatum was officially revealed to be part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast back when Marvel did its big announcement with the cast chair reveal. Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine were nowhere to be seen, despite reports that they will appear.
Recently, Marvel shared the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. It gave fans a good look at the X-Men, though, once again, Deadpool and Wolverine did not appear. That led to many believing that they are really not in the MCU movie. However, as is known with Marvel, things are not always what they seem.
Now, a new development has led to questions about Deadpool’s role in the upcoming MCU movie flaring back up. At 2026’s San Diego Comic-Con, where ScreenRant is in attendance, Marvel Studios brought many of the actors in Avengers: Doomsday’s cast to the stage. Surprisingly, Reynolds showed up at the event as Deadpool, but there is a twist
Marvel Studios Did Not Confirm That Deadpool Is In Avengers: Doomsday
Reynolds appeared in full Deadpool costume, wearing a black and gray suit, rather than his traditional red and black color scheme. Instead of joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast onstage, Deadpool had some funny lines while on the Hall H floor. He questioned Paul Rudd about why Thor was crying, also asking when they would shoot Avengers: Doomsday. Reynolds promptly heard back that the movie waas already finished, implying no Deadpool appearance. As such, despite Reynolds crashing the panel, Deadpool was not confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday.
