After a disappointing World Cup, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo has his next project.
According to The Sun, the Portuguese superstar is working with Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn on a show about a UK soccer agent starring Damian Lewis and a number of big stars from the sport.
Coming from an original idea by soccer agent Darren Dein and with filming having started in London, Day 1s will tell the fictional story of a soccer agent called Stanley Dalton, according to the report. Other big names reportedly set to feature include Thierry Henry and the rapper Dave. The show draws comparisons with a recent title for Globo in Brazil about a soccer agent titled The Playoffs, which starred Cauã Reymond.
Ronaldo is set to both star and EP. Day 1s is the first show to emerge from his UR•Marv Studios banner with Vaughn, an offshoot of Vaughn’s Marv Studios, which was first revealed last year.
The JV film studio has completed two action films, according to its launch statement, and said it will “embrace innovative technology, with a nod to tradition.”
Vaughn’s films include Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Layer Cake and X-Men: First Class, along with the Kingsman franchise.
Ronaldo plays soccer for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr but is now 41-years-old and is looking to the future. His Portugal side exited the World Cup at round-of-16 stage after losing to eventual winners Spain, which brought Ronaldo’s World Cup career to an end. The soccer legend, seen as one of the greatest of all time, played mostly for Real Madrid and Manchester United during a storied career.
Deadline has reached out to reps for Ronaldo, Vaughn and Lewis for comment.
