My Hero Academia Kicks Off A New Season July 29

My Hero Academia concluded its ground-breaking run in May 2026 with the release of its final episode. Since then, fans have been counting down the days until the launch of the next major MHA project, whether that’s a brand-new show, spin-off, video game, or even merchandise. Fortunately, and frankly rather unsurprisingly, the My Hero Academia well remains well and truly untapped, with there being plenty of potential for future entries that its publisher seems intent on exploring.

In the interim period, however, fans have been left with a bevy of shows like My Hero Academia, but little in the way of a tangible release actually connected to the show. Luckily, a brand-new season of My Hero is set to launch at the end of July, far sooner than perhaps everyone had first assumed. This is a full-blown release for the franchise, and while it may not be the one everyone was expecting, it is sure to delight hardcore fans that are eager to get their hands on literally anything My Hero Academia related.

My Hero Academia has been poised for a grand return this year, with several new projects having already been announced. A brand-new MHA game is launching in September and there is always the potential for a third season of the My Hero Academia: Vigilantes anime. However, long before either of those, and any other upcoming MHA projects, is the aforementioned new season, which affects a long-running title in the franchise that has been entertaining fans for nearly five years.

The free-to-play battle royale game based on the original manga, My Hero Ultra Rumble, is getting a brand-new season that is introducing a slew of new content that both fans of the game itself and of the anime are sure to enjoy. Even those who’ve never touched the game will still be able to appreciate the new content, as it introduces a fan-favorite character in the form of Gentle Criminal. The legendary minor villain will become a playable character in the 24-player battle royale title and join an already expansive roster of beloved characters.

The arrival of Gentle Criminal in My Hero Ultra Rumble marks the game’s 18th season in just three years. Across those seasons, 13 characters have been added alongside a plethora of changes, new quirks, modes, and maps that have seen the game’s initially mixed reception improve. Gentle Criminal merely marks the next step in the game’s evolution, and with him comes additional costumes and battle styles for players to enjoy.

Of course, a new season in My Hero Ultra Rumble may not be quite as exciting as a full-blown season of the original anime, but that ship has well and truly sailed. Season 18 of MHUR continues its efforts to make as many characters from the manga, both major and minor, playable and allow fans to truly jump into their shoes and experience the action-packed mayhem of the anime first-hand. Hopefully, this update will give My Hero Academia fans something to look forward to when it releases on July 29, 2026.
