One character has single-handedly taken over Disney+, with their popularity boding well for an upcoming release. With all the movies, shows, and IP that Disney has at its disposal, it is common for an individual person or franchise to completely dominate its streaming service. Subscribers have a tendency to gravitate towards popular characters and IP as new installments arrive.
That’s been no different in 2026. The Toy Story franchise dominated on Disney+ ahead of Toy Story 5‘s release. Disney Animation’s two Moana movies surged in popularity once again ahead of the live-action remake. James Cameron’s Avatar franchise also regained their audience as Avatar: Fire and Ash made its streaming debut. Even the Descendants franchise got more attention the new entry, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, launched.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe commonly has a few movies in the top 10. With Avengers: Doomsday coming later this year, many have already started rewatching the MCU movies or catching up on titles they’ve skipped post-Avengers: Endgame. Marvel is currently responsible for half of the top 10 trending movies on Disney+ in America, and it’s all thanks to one character.
