DC’s 2 Greatest Lovers Are Finally Reuniting With The Powerful Reunion Fans Have Waited For

DC’s new major event, Bad Seeds, begins at the end of August and spans Batman, Poison Ivy, Detective Comics, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Nightwing, Batwoman, and Batgirl for the next 10 weeks thereafter. However, while it’ll be fun to see how Bad Seeds’ vines stretch and coil throughout all these individual series, and despite the event technically being titled ‘Batman: Bad Seeds,’ one DC book’s crossover may be the most profound and result in a passion-filled conclusion.

Harley Quinn has been reeling psychologically in Elliott Kalan and Carlos Olivares’ ongoing Harley Quinn run, and is currently quite literally a pale, monochromatic shade of who she once was. It’ll be intriguing to see how Batquinn and Quinntellect reunite and return Harley to her ordinary self, but it’ll be even more compelling to see how Harley and Poison Ivy reunite in Bad Seeds, as well as what will become of their strained relationship when they do.

Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy Are Having A ‘Heart-To-Heart’

October 2026 DC solicitations have revealed that the second half of Harley Quinn’s two-part Bad Seeds crossover, in Harley Quinn #67, will see Harley having a “heart-to-heart” with Poison Ivy. Before that can come to pass, Solicitation Harley describes Harley Quinn #67 as follows:

Ahh, finally time for a nice relaxing—what the heck?! I just got my life back to normal, and now the whole city is gettin’ torn apart by prehistoric plants, poisonous pollen, and ahhh… dangit, I ran outta P words for alliteration, so uhhh… terrible treeoids ? I got a bad feeling my one true love, Poison Ivy, is behind alla this. I guess I gotta get my butt down to City Hall stat!

Harley getting her life back to normal confirms the obvious, that Batquinn and Quintellect will cease to be their own distinct beings by the end of issue #65, which ties the Harq Knight arc in a bow in time for issues #66 and #67 to contribute to Poison Ivy’s Bad Seeds crossover event. The solicitation for Harley Quinn #67, then, reads:

HARLEY, GET YOUR GIRL! Hey look! 6-7!!! 6-7!!! 6-7!!! Eh? Ehhhh ???? See, I can be hip! I got layers—I’m nuanced! Speaking of which, it’s about time that I have a long overdue heart-to-heart with the love of my life, Poison Ivy. All that’s standing between us is a city-sized jungle full of Swamp Thing’s prehistoric cousins. Good thing I brought my trusty Harley-machete! Saddle up, buckeroo; I gotta get my Pammy, and you’re coming with me!!

Will Bad Seeds End With Harley & Ivy’s Romance Rekindled?

How this “heart-to-heart” will go is anyone’s guess. Interestingly, though, Harley Quinn #67 is one of the last three issues being released for this crossover event, alongside Poison Ivy #49 and Batman: Bad Seeds – Sunrise #1, suggesting that Harley’s role in Bad Seeds’ finale will be paramount, possibly with Harley and Ivy being together once more.

It all happened in the blink of an eye, quicker than Bruce Wayne’s parents being gunned down in Crime Alley. Harley and Ivy’s breakup is first depicted from Ivy’s perspective in Poison Ivy #43, shortly after Ivy became Mayor of Gotham City, and Ivy’s formal status as a public figure is the reason why. In Ivy’s own words, “I can’t show up at televised events with someone who acts like—” with Harley correctly finishing her sentence for her, shouting, “Like what? A clown?”

This breakup has weighed heavily on Ivy, but obviously not more than it has weighed on Harley. Indeed, for the last little while, Harley has donned a cape and cowl and become Batquinn—the Harq Knight, a “grim sentinel of justice,” or so says Batquinn. In Harley Quinn #61, it’s explained that Harley and Ivy’s breakup affected Harley so severely that her heartbreak, mixed with the Alpha energy she was still carrying around since DC K.O., split her psyche in two: Batquinn (Harley’s supposedly humorless and violent side) and Quinntellect (Harley’s brain, essentially).

Their breakup is then revisited in Harley Quinn #63, with Harley finally half-involuntarily and half-consciously confronting her memory of it. It’s fascinating to see what the breakup was like from Harley’s perspective, with Batquinn’s inner monologue recapping it.

It’s unknown whether the end of DC’s Bad Seeds event will have these lovers back in each other’s arms, or maybe even pushed further apart. Either way, this is sure to make the next 10 weeks of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy comics intoxicating.

Harley Quinn #67 is scheduled to be released on October 28, 2026.
