2026 has been a benchmark year for Anya Taylor-Joy, who reprised her role as Princess Peach in the first $1 billion movie of 2026, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Taylor-Joy’s co-star, Keegan-Michael Key, has already confirmed that a third Mario movie is officially in the works, though he admits that it likely won’t hit theaters until at least a few more years. She will also reprise her role as Alia Atreides later this year in Dune: Part Three, which is opening in theaters on December 18 alongside Avengers: Doomsday. Taylor-Joy even has a new movie with Chris Evans, Sacrifice, which is due to premiere on Netflix before the end of this year after debuting at TIFF last year — the film earned poor scores from critics, but the combined star power of Taylor-Joy and Evans is more than enough to ensure it will be a streaming hit.
Anya Taylor-Joy has plenty of experience in the past starring in streaming projects, be it The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix or The Gorge on Apple TV. This year, she returned to Apple TV for a new crime thriller, Lucky, which also stars Timothy Olyphant. The show was written and created for TV by Jonathan Tropper, who not only penned the Apple TV sleeper hit Your Friends & Neighbors, but he also wrote the script for Shawn Levy’s new Star Wars movie. After premiering on July 15 with two episodes, Lucky now has only three episodes remaining in its seven-episode first season.
