Halo Collides With Valheim In New Open-World Survival RPG

Halo has influenced many games that followed, especially in the sci-fi genre. It’s one of the most iconic console shooters of all time, and it’s constantly in the mix with sequels, remakes, and re-releases. That’s why the mixture of Halo and Valheim really stood out to me, as they’re a fascinating combination to try and put together.

Well, according to many Steam users, one team managed to unite the two. Over on Steam now, you can find a game that mixes both together. The sci-fi setting that’s reminiscent of Halo, and the survival mechanics of Valheim coalesce in an interesting way, and you can try it out for free.

Halo + Valheim Sounds Like An Odd Mix

EverRail is now available on Steam in Early Access and is a very eclectic mix of inspirations. This is what you’ll be taking on with EverRail: “Every passenger is a life. Every death brings the end closer. An open world survival crafting game where you explore, scavenge, and craft to endure on the frozen exomoon Inara. Command and upgrade your ever-moving train, solo or with up to 4 players. Move or freeze.”

Right now, if you buy the game, you’ll gain access to the Supporter’s Edition until August 11. This includes the base game, the Bullet Train, an alternative glider, and a supporter train and glider skin. Early Access will see lots of bug polishing going forward, but EverRail is also getting “major content updates,” balance improvements, more features, and extra gameplay systems.

So far, reviews are mixed, but some folks are finding a lot to love: “It’s really early into early access, so I am forgiving of a lot of issues. I have a lot of fun and the balancing of the train battery with exploration is an interesting twist. Food drains a bit too quickly, and the AI of the enemies feels way too easy to work around unless you get swarmed. All in all, I’ve been enjoying this game for what it is instead of being hyper critical and expecting the early access to be fully polished. It needs work, and has some bugs, but it’s a fun game overall.”

EverRail Looks Like A Truly Unique Game

It isn’t just a survival game, as there’s another twist, too: “Your train is your only refuge in an endless frozen world. When you die, another passenger steps forward and takes your place. As long as survivors remain, your journey continues. Rescue trapped passengers scattered in abandoned facilities across Inara and build up your society one survivor at a time.”

A free demo is available now on Steam if you think this will become your next big obsession. For fans of Snowpiercer, this seems like a no-brainer to try at no cost.
