Whitney Leavitt Returning To Broadway In ‘Just In Time’

Whitney Leavitt, the former Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member who reinvigorated the box office of the long-running Broadway revival Chicago, is soon to join another major production: Just In Time, the Bobby Darin bio-musical starring Jeremy Jordan.

Leavitt will take over the role of Sandra Dee, the real-life singer and, for a time, wife of Darin. She’ll begin a limited six-week engagement in Just In Time at Circle in the Square Theatre beginning Tuesday, December 1. Her final performance will be Sunday, January 10, 2027.

The engagement lands during the always lucrative Christmas-New Years holiday weeks, with producers no doubt hoping the popular Leavitt can bring in the kind of record-setting business that marked her stint as Roxie Hart in Chicago this past spring.

The casting was announced today by Just in Time lead producers Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost.

Just in Time, which originally starred Jonathan Groff and, as Dee, Erika Henningsen, opened to critical acclaim on Saturday, April 26, 2025, and is the only musical of the 2024-2025 season to have announced that it’s recouped its capitalization.

In addition to Jordan the current cast includes Carrie St. Louis as Dee.

Leavitt rose to fame as was one of the breakout stars of Hulu’s hit series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and she competed on Season 34 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars; she’ll soon be seen starring in the film All for Love, which she also executive produced. During her stint as Roxie in Chicago, the production broke box office records and achieved the highest grossing period in the show’s 29-year history, and was extended twice.

Since she left Chicago in May, the box office receipts have been down considerably from the $1 million+ peaks during her run. Most recent available weekly gross figure (for the week ending August 9) was $742,764.

In Just in Time, the Dee characters sings such songs as “Not For Me,” “Eighteen Yellow Roses,” “Irresistible You” and others.
