It grossed nearly $100 million worldwide against a reported budget of $60 million after being widely embraced by its target demographic. It now holds an 87% audience score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Rami Malek is a compellingly unconventional action hero in the otherwise formulaic The Amateur, which dispenses justice with solid execution but a curious lack of emotional stakes.” Bernthal plays a CIA field agent in the movie, which follows an analyst on a mission to uncover who killed his wife.
