“The Diplomat” is back for Season 4.
The political drama will return for its fourth season on Oct. 15. Netflix has also dropped a new teaser trailer and first look images.
Season 4 sees the return of Keri Russell as Kate Wyler and Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler. Other cast members include Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah and Rory Kinnear, Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney.
The third season ended with Kate discovering the plot orchestrated by Hal and President Grace (Janney) to steal a dangerous Russian nuclear torpedo — a plot she is now implicated in.
The official synopsis for the fourth season reads: “In Season Four of The Diplomat, two marriages threaten to eat each other alive. One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save. While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war. Kate and Todd (Whitford), at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.”
“The Diplomat” was created by Debora Cahn, who serves as executive producer alongside Russell, Janice Williams, Alex Graves, Peter Noah and Eli Attie.
The show has earned several award nominations. Russell has received an outstanding lead actress Emmy nomination for every season of “The Diplomat.” Janney (supporting actress, drama), Whitford (guest actor, drama) and Sewell (lead actor, drama) were all nominated for the 2026 Emmys.
