Does Hughes have a senior discount?
Hughes provides a 5% discount for customers over 55. You’ll just need to verify your age before buying, which will involve uploading a copy of your ID.
Does Hughes have an NHS discount?
Yes, Hughes has a 4% NHS discount on electrical appliances and a key worker discount, too. You just need to verify your employment status with them and you get the discount.
Does Hughes have a student discount?
Yes, but it’s through a third-party provider. Hughes also offers a graduate discount with the same partner. You’ll get exclusive discounts through the third-party partner, like 5% off selected products.
How long can you rent from Hughes?
There isn’t a limit on how long you can rent a product, and in some cases, renting is a much better financial option than buying. But Hughes says that it has a minimum renting time of at least 12 months, so consider if this is too long beforehand.
Does Hughes charge for installation?
Yes, and there are a few installation services you can choose from. For online orders, Hughes charges £30 for washing machine, washer dryer and dishwasher installation. They also offer a connection and disconnection service for certain appliances, which have a cost. You can also pay for the disposal of an old item. If you need to replace an item Hughes can’t repair, the company will provide a free replacement, but will still charge for installation.
Does Hughes charge for delivery?
It varies. Most items have free delivery, but Hughes adds a charge for certain appliances and price points. Small appliances over £50 are free, while those under £50 carry a £3.99 delivery charge. For large appliances, Hughes offers free delivery for items over £400, while items under that threshold carry a £19.99 delivery fee. All televisions have free delivery.

Consider flexi-pay: Hughes has a few flexi-pay channels, which can make payments more manageable. But make sure you read the fine print before committing to it.
Try their price-match promise: Hughes has a price-match promise where they’ll match the price of products from selected competitors. The company will price match against AO, Currys, Marks Electrical and Richer Sounds. You’ll just need to share a link to the webpage of the product you’d like them to price match. If it’s in person, you’ll need to photograph the item with the model number, price, date and time. You can do this after purchasing an item too. There’s a 7-day window where if you share evidence of one of the selected competitors having a cheaper version of the product you’ve bought, Hughes will refund the difference.
Consider if rental is better for you: Sometimes, you may not need an electrical device forever. In that case, you can save a lot of money by choosing Hughes’s rental service. You’ll need to rent an appliance for a minimum of 12 months, but it’ll usually work out cheaper than buying outright.
Use the company’s discounts: Hughes offers quite a few discounts for different people on offer, including an NHS discount, a senior discount, a key worker discount and even discounts if you’re on maternity leave. All of these are 5% off, though the student discount can vary.
