At SXSW, AMC’s upcoming series, The Audacity, from Emmy Award-winning creator Jonathan Glatzer (Succession), premiered its first two episodes to rave reviews. The network clearly knows they have something special with this tech satire, because in addition to viewers’ positive early responses, the show has already been given the green light for a Season 2 renewal before its official premiere.
The eight-episode series gives fans a look at the sinister side of Silicon Valley, with stars Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifianakis. In the show, Magnussen is a brazen data-mining CEO, Duncan Park, who’s looking to turn his insight into profit and power. But within the bubble of this hub of innovation exists a world of major egos, loose morals, and jaded billionaires. The Audacity also stars Lucy Punch, Paul Adelstein, Simon Helberg, Meaghan Rath, and Rob Corddry.
While talking with Weintraub, Glatzer teased a “dark,” wild ride ahead:
“It takes place in Silicon Valley, where audacity is kind of regarded as a real attribute. But it’s got a dark side, too. Being a bull in a china shop means a lot of broken dishes. I think that we populate this world with some very audacious characters who are willing to do whatever the fuck they think is best for them.”
With the first episode premiering this weekend, check out Collider’s Steve Weintraub’s interviews with the cast and creatives below, where they discuss Glatzer’s creation of this darkly comedic world, the ensemble of characters, and much more.
