Looking ahead to a summer of travel and relaxation? Or at least a couple of weeks of it? Reading is always one of the things I aim to do more of while I’m chilling, and there’s no better way to do so than through an ereader. Right now, you can buy a certified refurbished Kindle at Amazon for £60.99 (was £75.99), which is the cheapest possible way to get the ereader right now.
This particular model is the last-gen version, but it’s still very good, and the refurb has been officially certified by Amazon, so it’s in good condition. This Kindle offers a comfortable 300 ppi high-resolution display that is glare-free and effortless for your eyes. Six weeks of battery life and storage for thousands of books make this ideal for the longest of vacations, too.
Today’s best Kindle deal
Our Amazon Kindle review gave it four stars out of five, appreciating that it’s a “great basic ereader.” For some people, it may be a little small and simple, but I really enjoyed my time with the Kindle. It has excellent battery life and its compact design is good for travellers.
Its place as the best Kindle for those on a budget has been lost to the newer Kindle, but this one is about £30 cheaper, which makes it very tempting. You’d struggle to find any of the best ereaders for this low a price.
The certified refurbished Kindle works just as well indoors as it does outdoors, and it handles nighttime well. At this price, you won’t get a colour screen, but when reading, that’s hardly essential.
If you need more functionality and crave the notifications that the Kindle saves you from, take a look at the best cheap tablets available right now. There are often some excellent iPad deals going on.
