Baldur’s Gate 3 Meets Split Fiction In New Steam RPG

[

A new RPG on Steam seems to be like a delightful blend between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Split Fiction, and fans of the genre or either of the games should consider checking it out. RPGs that have been inspired by TTRPGs have grown more popular since the release of Baldur’s Gate 3 (which is inspired by Dungeons and Dragons itself). For example, a new game inspired by BG3 and God of War was just recently made available for interested players.

Titles that are inspired by Baldur’s Gate 3 aren’t new, seeing the turn-based RPG’s popularity and award-winning status, but there are a few titles that truly stand out. This is the case with a new RPG that is set to be released on Steam and will soon be playable. The game is inspired by TTRPGs, but has a few different mechanics that make it even more appealing to players.

A Co-Op RPG Inspired By Tabletop Games

Wyldheart Is Schedule-Friendly

The new RPG on Steam is called Wyldheart. Developed and published by Wayfinder Studios, the game is a co-op action RPG that is heavily inspired by tabletop games. In it, you’ll build your own character and pick up on leads, which will take you on adventures. The main deal is tackling what is described as “bite-sized campaigns” set in the Kingdom of Caerwyn with your friends.

Somewhat like the majority of D&D campaigns, you are not playing the chosen hero for an adventure, but a peasant who rose up to the occasion. You’ll be able to pick from three different species and 19 backgrounds to initiate your story, and from there, choose a playstyle that fits you – and swap between whatever you prefer on the go. One of the main details about Wyldheart is how easy it is to play with friends.

The game can be played solo or in groups with up to four players. What makes it stand out is its seamless drop-in/drop-out system. With cloud-shared saves, group XP, and scaling difficulty, the game circumvents the disastrous scheduling issues in D&D and other co-op games, like Baldur’s Gate 3 itself.

Wyldheart Enters Early Access Soon

The Action RPG’s Full Release Is Slated For 2027

Wayfinder’s action RPG is set to be playable soon. According to Wyldheart’s product page on Steam, it should enter Early Access soon, so interested players will be able to purchase it and play it as the team continues to develop it. The full game’s release is expected to happen at some point in 2027, depending on how the Early Access period goes.

Wyldheart seems like a fun alternative to some of the more time and schedule-demanding games that you may be used to, including Baldur’s Gate 3. If you’re interested in checking it out, be sure to wishlist the RPG on Steam to keep up with all the news about it, including when it is released in Early Access.
