Bloodborne Remaster Rallies Gamers Following Official PlayStation Announcement

[

Yesterday saw the news break that the hit FromSoftware title Bloodborne will be welcoming an R-rated animated movie courtesy of Sony Pictures and YouTuber Seán William “Jack” McLoughlin, best known as JackSepticEye. With a YouTuber leading the charge as producer, fans were left feeling divided. However, with the movie promised to remain “very true” to the FromSoftware RPG, retaining its gory nature and dark themes, there is hope, especially as the arrival of a movie adaptation could mean a bright future for the 2015 hit.

Following the news that a Bloodborne movie is in development, fans started to think what this could mean for the one thing we have all been waiting the past decade for: a remaster.

A Bloodborne PS5 Remaster Is More Likely Than Ever

Over the past ten years, fans have been eager to see Bloodborne remastered. Not only that, but with the FromSoftware title being locked to PlayStation consoles, there is also hope for a PC port, allowing fans to no longer have to rely on unofficial mods, as amazing as they may be. However, with Sony dragging its heels when it comes to a remaster or PC port despite FromSoftware reportedly being on board, fans are still waiting, but could the news of a Bloodborne movie help out?

Well, following a discussion about the movie’s announcement over on r/PS5, one user pointed out quite an interesting fact, sharing, “The movie’s release would be the perfect time for a remaster/remake. We know how much Sony loves their synergy, like releasing the Until Dawn remake when the movie came out.” There is no denying that it would make sense for Sony to use the movie’s popularity as an excuse to finally release a remaster, especially as new players will also want to check out the game. With Bloodborne being widely regarded as one of the best video games of all time, a remaster or PC port are guaranteed to rack in the sales.

Bloodborne Fans Are Torn Over This Movie

However, being considered one of the greatest games will make the upcoming movie all the more divisive as fans are quite protective of FromSoftware’s magnum opus. It being animated and produced by a content creator has not gone down well with some fans and, as such, many have taken to social media to share their reservations about the project.

“I don’t know, for Bloodborne, I fear it will just be “killing eldritch monsters until the main character ascends hehe — the movie” without any mind paid to the themes of femininity and motherhood and suffering and punishment,” one user over on Twitter shared. Another agreed, adding, “We all know the worst YouTuber you can think of is about to get their own feature film. Now, I don’t know how much you remember from mid 2010’s YouTuber movies, but I’m begging you, do not make me go through that again.”

However, with McLoughlin’s disclaimer reading, “I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favorite game ever made, but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are,” it seems as though the highly ambitious project is in good hands, and hopefully, it will inspire that long-awaited remaster.
