Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere Gets Multiple Surprise Releases This Year

[

Brandon Sanderson’s Cosmere universe, best known for The Stormlight Archive and the Mistborn saga, continues to expand every year across a variety of media, from novels and tabletop games to upcoming screen adaptations. Further, Sanderson has released several projects exploring other corners of The Cosmere, including Elantris, Warbreaker, White Sand, Tress of the Emerald Sea, Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, The Sunlit Man, and numerous novellas.

With the upcoming launch of Sanderson’s live-action Stormlight Apple TV series and Mistborn feature film, fans of Sanderson’s work have no shortage of content to look forward to in the coming years. But perhaps the most exciting Cosmere project in the spotlight at the moment is the record-breaking TTRPG from Brotherwise Games and Dragonsteel, which was the most-funded game project in Kickstarter history.

Now, Brotherwise is endeavoring to repeat history with a brand-new crowdfunding campaign set to kick off in Fall 2026 that will introduce multiple new Cosmere releases alongside the launch of the highly anticipated launch of Stormlight: War for Roshar.

According to a new press release from Brotherwise Games, when the War for Roshar board game Kickstarter campaign goes live this Fall, in addition to the game itself, players will be able to pledge for multiple add-ons from across the Cosmere universe. This includes the Champions mini-expansion and deluxe components, as well as “Cosmere miniature packs … including new Stormlight sets and the first-ever Mistborn Premium Miniatures Set.”

Stormlight: War for Roshar is an upcoming asymmetric strategy board game that brings Brandon Sanderson’s acclaimed Stormlight Archive to the tabletop in one of the franchise’s most ambitious adaptations yet. Designed by John D. Clair, the game recreates the climactic struggle between the Coalition of Honor and Odium’s invading forces as players battle across Roshar for control of key regions and Oathgates.

Supporting one-on-one matches, 2v2 team play, or a unique 3v1 format, War for Roshar unfolds over eight rounds, with each round culminating in “Highstorms” or “Everstorms” that reshape the battlefield and force players to adapt. Players recruit legendary heroes, command armies, contest territories, and leverage asymmetrical faction abilities inspired by Sanderson’s Stormlight novels.

As mentioned, following the record-breaking success of the Cosmere RPG, Stormlight: War for Roshar is set to launch on Kickstarter this fall as Brotherwise’s next major tabletop adaptation Sanderson’s work. The mini-packs and premium sets will be available as individual add-ons to the base game during the Kickstarter campaign, and will likely be included in separate pledge bundle tiers as well. You can follow the Kickstarter page now to receive updates and alerts, and can expect the exciting new Cosmere project to go live in just a few months.
