(Reuters) – The Teamsters union said on Thursday that Canada’s two largest rail companies had locked out their Canadian workers, an unprecedented rail stoppage that could badly damage the economy.

Canadian National Railway (TSX:) and Canadian Pacific (NYSE:) Kansas City announced the lockout of their Canadian workers on Thursday after failed labor talks.
