EXCLUSIVE: Netflix has acquired Ram, a new spec marking a passion project for writer-producer Chris Bremner, Deadline has learned.
Plot details are under wraps, but the project has been described as an action-comedy with sci-fi elements. Bremner’s Unknown Quantity is set to produce alongside Rideback.
One of today’s go-to writers in the action-comedy space, who just announced the launch of his production banner, along with a deal at Sony, in January, Bremner told Deadline, “I’m so excited to be working with my friends at Netflix to build an original movie that I’ve been dreaming about for quite some time.”
Bremner came to a deal to write and produce for Sony under his Unknown Quantity banner after architecting the third and fourth installments in the Bad Boys franchise, Bad Boys for Life and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which together grossed over $837 million worldwide. That’s not the only major franchise he’s been entrusted with, as he’s also in early development on a new Men in Black movie for Sony and has been set to write a third National Treasure movie for Disney.
Kickstarting his Hollywood career with Blackfriars, a comedy script that made the Black List in 2015, Bremner has recently set up projects at Sony including Permission by Dan Roe and You Up by Gabe Delahaye, both off of pitches. Previously scripting a reboot of The Pink Panther for Amazon MGM and an untitled movie for Universal off one of their franchises, he most recently set up Christopher William Young’s R-rated comedy spec White Knight at Screen Gems, as we first reported.
Bremner and Unknown Quantity are repped by WME, Kaplan/Perrone, and JSSK.
