EXCLUSIVE: Elysian Film Group Distribution Limited, the distribution arm of Danny Perkins‘ UK film company, is being liquidated.
Elysian Film Group Distribution, which launched in 2020 with backing from CAA, is now the subject of a formal insolvency process. Perkins’ production company, Elysian Film Group, will continue trading.
FRP Advisory, a financial advisory firm, has been appointed to wind up the affairs of Elysian Film Group Distribution Limited. FRP was appointed by company members and creditors, suggesting Elysian Film Group Distribution has outstanding debts.
Perkins, the former head of Studiocanal UK, told Deadline: “Elysian Film Group Distribution Ltd is no longer trading and is subject to a formal insolvency process.
“Elysian Film Group Ltd, the production company, continues to operate independently and remains active. We do not intend to comment further on the insolvency process or matters relating to creditors.”
Elysian Film Group launched in 2018 and has been part of the producing team on titles including The Magic Faraway Tree and Fackham Hall.
Elysian Film Group Distribution Limited launched two years later, acquiring titles for the UK market, including Studio Ghibli pics The Boy and the Heron, which was a hit, and Earwig And The Witch.
Elysian produced and distributed 2023 Take That movie Greatest Days, but the film failed to ignite at the box office.
At Studiocanal, Perkins oversaw hit UK releases for movies including Paddington 1 and 2, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Legend, and the acquisition and release of movies including The Imitation Game, The Hurt Locker and Spirited Away.
