Dark Souls Finally Returns In Just One Month

It may have been 15 years since the launch of Dark Souls, but with the FromSoftware title being considered one of the greatest pieces of storytelling of all time, it is no wonder that it is still talked about to this day. Not only that, but there are even more releases to look forward to.

It may not be Dark Souls 4 like many of us are hoping for, but it is definitely the next best thing, as the story created by Hidetaka Miyazaki continues with the launch of DARK SOULS: REDEMPTION, Vol. 3.

As the third installment in the Dark Souls manga series, the third volume is expected to launch on 22 September 2026 from publisher Yen Press. The synopsis reads as follows:

The tenuous alliance between a guardian, a keeper, and a hunter calms in ruin’s wake. Yet, like a candle against a gale, hope flickers with each passing moment. In these cursed lands, hope is the sliver of dawn which beats back the night. Be it for duty, family, or survival— our heros will march into the winds of a world lost to ash and despair. But the waning light of their hope cannot illuminate every dark corner of the world. And somewhere in the black stirs a reckoning which comes to snuff it out…

Written by Julien Blondel with art from Shonen, Dark Souls: Redemption, Vol.3 is the third entry in the Dark Souls: Redemption series, a dark fantasy saga set in the Dark Souls universe. The story follows an amnesiac Nameless woman who awakes in a tomb and must enter a ruined landscape. However, she is guarded by an honor-bound protector who stays at her side amongst the growing threats in this strange land.

The first entry, titled Humanity Lost, was published back in August 2024, with the sequel, Bonfire, following in July 2025. Now, the third installment is expected to launch just next month, giving fans another look into the dark fantasy world that captured our hearts and minds for the first time back in 2011.

Back in 2024, fans took to r/darksouls to share their thoughts on the Dark Souls: Redemption manga series, with one user sharing a detailed review of the first entry. As you can imagine, fellow readers soon came forward with their own thoughts.

“Lack of a proper plot and explanation is 100% source-accurate,” one user said. Another wrote, “I like it, but I really hope that in the future volumes, we get mentions of actual characters/mechanics from the Dark Souls universe.”

One user’s comments seem to be the consensus for fans, “I think it has potential to be great, but I hope the story still builds a meaningful connection to the lore and or world, otherwise the Dark Souls in the title isn’t really deserved.”

Now that a further two volumes are (almost) out, we can only hope that this Dark Souls manga series has given readers what they have been searching for. After all, trying to beat Dark Souls itself is a hard feat to follow.
