David Corenswet’s Superman Battles Warsuit Lex Luthor In James Gunn’s Man Of Tomorrow Set Photos

The DC Universe will see Lex Luthor and Superman finally have a physical clash.

Principal photography continues on James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, with more set photos and videos emerging from the production. Thanks to @JJGC0405 and @nickbeest9, the DCU audience finally has a first look at the two rivals in battle against one another.

The images feature David Corenswet’s DC hero in the midst of throwing a punch against Hoult’s supervillain, with the British star in his new warsuit that Gunn revealed earlier this week. A large hole in the wall is also visible right behind them, suggesting the fight began inside.

In the set video, viewers get to see Hoult’s Warsuit and its practicality, as well as its green-and-purple design. This marks the first time any live-action Superman movie has adapted the Lexosuit for the big screen.

It’s unclear what caused their showdown and whether this is before Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac arrives in the Man of Tomorrow story. Similar to Hoult’s new armor, the 2027 entry will mark the live-action film debut of DC’s famous world collector.

One crucial detail that has been spotted with Hoult’s new armor is that ARGUS is seemingly involved with it. When Gunn revealed Lex’s suit, many quickly noticed the organization’s logo on the chest area.

In the comics, Lex usually handles it through his own resources and methods, but given the Superman movie’s ending, he may have to rely on ARGUS in the DCU sequel. It’s also quite possible that Hoult’s Peacemaker season 2 appearance may pave the way for the government entity’s involvement in Gunn’s new project.

Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. is officially in the new superhero adventure, as he continues to be a regular player after his stories in Creature Commandos season 1, Superman, and Peacemaker season 2. He is most likely a big reason why Lex is suddenly out of prison.

It’s possible that Man of Tomorrow will get a slight setup as early as this month in the upcoming Supergirl movie with Milly Alcock on June 26. As the Kara Zor-El actress is confirmed to return for Corenswet’s sequel, her solo story may plant a seed or two for why she gets involved in the 2027 follow-up.

The Man of Steel lead will also have a few scenes in Alcock’s Supergirl, as he has already been confirmed through trailers and TV spots. Man of Tomorrow will also feature major DCU characters like Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, along with Lois Lane.

DC Studios’ Man of Tomorrow is officially releasing in theaters on July 9, 2027.
