Wonder Woman and Supergirl are two of DC’s most iconic heroes, with designs instantly recognizable to even the most casual fans. After decades of costume updates and reimaginings, the legendary heroines have now unveiled one of their most gorgeous redesigns yet, embracing stunning anime-inspired looks that go full Sailor Moon.
With San Diego Comic-Con now concluded, DC Comics has officially lifted its gag order on its October solicitations, giving fans a glimpse at what’s in store for their favorite heroes this fall. Among the most highly anticipated upcoming releases is writers Mark Waid and Nicole Maines’ and artist Dan Mora’s Justice League Unlimited #24, which is set to hit comic book shelves on October 28, 2026.
The October solicitation for the issue includes the official synopsis, which states, “The disastrous war between Lex Luthor and Batman has left the Justice League less united than ever… but change is brewing on the horizon, and one threat is destined to bring the JLU together again: the future. Dreamer, Brainiac Queen, Red Tornado, and more vie for the fate of tomorrow — and only the return of Superman himself can hope to sort out the chaos!”
The 32-page Justice League Unlimited #24 will be available at local comic shops and digitally for $5.99 upon its release date.
Alongside the synopsis, DC also unveiled the issue’s main cover and lineup of variant covers. While each is exceptional, artist Rachta Lin’s variant stands out in particular, giving Wonder Woman and Supergirl a stunning anime-style makeover complete with entirely new costumes.

Rachta Lin’s variant cover depicts Wonder Woman and Supergirl standing side by side as both heroes strike a pose that would make even Sailor Moon proud. Anime and manga fans know Sailor Moon as one of the most influential and recognizable franchises ever created, particularly for its iconic magical girl transformation sequences, where Usagi Tsukino transforms from an ordinary schoolgirl into a powerful magical warrior.
These transformations are accompanied by dazzling visual effects that make the moment feel truly magical before ending with Sailor Moon striking one of her signature poses. That’s exactly the vibe Lin captures with Wonder Woman and Supergirl, as both heroines strike a pose worthy of the legendary magical girl. They also feature classic anime stylization, including oversized, sparkling eyes, small noses and mouths, and heart-shaped faces.
However, it isn’t just the anime-inspired art style that makes this cover so notable. It also gives Diana and Kara completely new costumes that, while still instantly recognizable, are unlike anything either hero has worn before. Continuing the Sailor Moon aesthetic, both characters wear shorter-than-usual skirts, thigh-high boots, and even ruffled details incorporated into their costumes.
The redesign also gives Supergirl’s traditional color palette a fresh twist, swapping her usual darker blue for a lighter shade accented with white while retaining the classic red and gold highlights. The cut of her costume is also a dramatic departure from the status quo, and she is accessorized with an “S”-shield barrette and matching earrings.
Likewise, Wonder Woman also sports earrings (hers a crescent moon design that feels like a deliberate nod to Sailor Moon) alongside a costume that reimagines her classic look with a golden bustier that extends across the entirety of her ribcage. These are incredibly bold and gorgeous redesigns for both Wonder Woman and Supergirl, and deserve to be seen by DC Comics and Sailor Moon fans alike.
