Dexter: Resurrection season 2 could be arriving sooner than people thought.
Michael C. Hall is known for bringing the antihero/serial killer Dexter Morgan to life for 20 years. The original eight-season series, despite having a divisive series finale, has remained a favorite for so many, leading to not one, but three spinoffs, including the latest spinoff and easily the fan-favorite, Resurrection.
Series director Marcos Siega shared an exciting update on the production of Dexter: Resurrection season 2 on Instagram. The director posted an Instagram story with the caption: “Last day of prep! Here we go! Can’t wait to start filming!” Siega was joined in the photo by writer Scott Reynolds, and showrunner Clyde Phillips.
Season 2 filming is about to get underway, and it was announced who would be returning for the new season of Resurrection, including the casting choice for The New York Ripper, who has been cast as Brian Cox. Cox is known for Succession, Braveheart, The Bourne Identity, and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. The serial killer’s identity was kept a mystery but often mentioned in the first season of Dexter: Resurrection, so a first glimpse has everyone ready to see what awaits their favorite serial killer, Dexter.
Another major casting announcement was the return of Uma Thurman’s character, Charley Brown, who was last seen fleeing New York with her mother after a confrontation with Dexter, leaving her no choice but to run. However, it seems Charley has some unfinished business and could potentially be seeking revenge for the events that transpired between her, Dexter, and his son Harrison.
Writer Reynolds has also been sharing some throwback images leading up to season 2’s production from Dexter: New Blood and Original Sin. He also shared an image of props to be used for Dexter’s home with the caption, “Some ‘room essentials’ … if Dexter owns the room. The things ya see when walking around near the Props dept. during prep for #DexterResurrection.”
Filming is expected to begin later this month (April 2026), with Phillips ordering a 10-episode series to premiere hopefully in October later this year. Dexter: Resurrection season 2 will be the first project filmed at Manhattan’s Sunset Pier 94 Studios, which was booked ahead of its opening.
EVP of production for Paramount TV, Drew Brown, stated: “Last season saw Dexter move to New York City – and now we look forward to following suit, gaining greater access to the region’s incredible creative talent, leveraging a competitive tax credit program and reinforcing our commitment to U.S. production.”
