While Dragon Ball fans have spent years eagerly awaiting new anime seasons, including long-requested adaptations of the Moro and Granolah story arcs, the franchise has continued to expand through a massive collection of new movies, manga, and of course, an ever-growing lineup of video games. One of the most anticipated upcoming releases in the Dragon Ball universe, however, is the launch of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
The exciting upcoming release is an enhanced retelling of the anime’s “Battle of Gods” storyline that will be rebuilding the opening arc of Dragon Ball Super with updated animation and a narrative that more closely reflects Akira Toriyama’s original vision. The series will revisit Goku’s first encounter with Beerus, the God of Destruction, while expanding on key story elements, and is scheduled to premiere sometime this fall, serving as the next major anime project for the franchise.
And if you’re truly excited for Dragon Ball Super‘s official return, Beerus is making his debut sooner than expected in a brand-new season this week, with a new release scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (via GN).
Season 6 of Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is officially set to launch this week, introducing Beerus as a brand-new playable character ahead of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus‘ release later this year. It marks one of the game’s biggest roster additions to date. Alongside Beerus, the update includes new cosmetics, balance adjustments, ranked changes, and seasonal rewards, continuing Bandai Namco’s support for the 4v4 multiplayer title.
Beerus’ arrival gives players the chance to wield one of the franchise’s most powerful and recognizable characters, with his destructive abilities expected to bring a unique playstyle to the battlefield. Full details were unveiled during the official YouTube Squadra Talk Season 6 presentation ahead of the update’s release.
For the uninitiated, Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is a free-to-play 4v4 online multiplayer action game that brings the Dragon Ball universe into a fast-paced, team-based arena format. Rather than focusing on traditional one-on-one fighting, players work together to complete objectives, defeat enemy teams, and ultimately seize the opposing team’s Dragon Ball to secure victory.
Each character falls into distinct archetypes, i.e., Damage, Tank, or Technical, encouraging strategic team compositions and coordination. Fighters can level up during matches, unlock signature transformations like Super Saiyan, unleash iconic attacks pulled directly from the anime, and the game is available across PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
Gekishin Squadra also supports cross-platform play and progression, making it easy for friends to team up regardless of platform, and is well worth checking out whether you’re a lontime Dragon Ball enthusiast or a casual anime viewer looking for a fun video game experience set in the Dragon Ball universe.
