SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the eighth episode of “Dutton Ranch,” “Whiskey Limits,” which is now streaming on Paramount+.
The ending of last week’s “Dutton Ranch” was bonkers: Beulah (Annette Bening) had a heart attack or stroke, triggered by an emotional Carter (Finn Little) drunkenly vandalizing her taxidermy at the 10 Petal gala. Will Beulah survive? Will Carter get punished? Will Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) use the opportunity as a power grab? Let’s find out this week!
- Wow, they have to helicopter Beulah away? Her health scare must have been bad!
- Ouch, Carter falling drunk off his horse. I bet it’s not very fun to ride while wasted!
- Eww, Carter puking on his horse! Poor horse!
- I can’t believe Rip (Cole Hauser) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) aren’t more mad at Carter! I would have gotten punished far worse for doing much less …
- That said, this is solid tough talk from Beth … good parenting!
- Rip is bringing Carter to the 10 Petal to work the next morning? I’m not sure he’s welcome …
- Swooning over Everett (Ed Harris) waiting for Beulah at the hospital.
- Oh, damn, Beulah laying down the law: “Robert William, you are so goddamned weak. That’s why I’m leaving the ranch to you. It’s not your prize — it’s your protection.”
- Rob-Will’s enraged face as Beulah told him what the situation actually is was pretty amazing.
- Yuck at Carter’s neon-colored puke.
- Thumbs’ up to Rip and Azul (J.R. Villarreal) for giving the treacherously hungover Carter a proper amount of shit on the way to the ranch. You only harass the ones you love!
- I know it’s not necessarily the drama we’re hoping for, but I love these small moments of understanding between Beulah and Beth, in this case connecting over being boy moms. It adds necessary dimension to both of their characters without seeming too saccharine.
- Beulah, I know you love Rob-Will in your own way, and you’re changing the succession in order to keep Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) safe and the family intact, but he sucks. Can’t you just have him killed or something?
- I love Everett’s cowboy poetry: “I’m ready to take that final ride with you, if you are.”
- Austin (Sterlin English) is such a goner. Dude, just leave — or stay and shut up!
- Carter, stop acting like a baby. (Side note: Ouch, falling off that horse looked like it hurt, too!)
- I feel like Beulah and Everett have a wild sex life. Good for them!
- Good on Beth for talking Carter down.
- Wait, where is Carter going? And whose truck is that?
- Joaquin, you’re playing with fire by bringing Rob-Will’s gun to the cops …
- Is Joaquin really going to ditch his family? Seems impulsive …
- Carter wants to be a cop? Why?
- Austin is telling all of the 10 Petal secrets to Beth and Rip? Uh-oh!
- Oh no, Beth and Rip are not going to want to run a business that has an illegal Mexican cattle operation that forges all the paperwork for Border Patrol!
- Uh oh, what darkness will Joaquin’s father bring to the ranch?
Until next time, avoid puking on your horse, Dutton ranchers!
