SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the ninth episode of “Dutton Ranch,” “El Padrino,” which is now streaming on Paramount+.
This season of “Dutton Ranch” flew by at warp speed. Sure, it was only nine episodes long, but they packed a lot in. We got to know the Jackson family, who made the Duttons seem downright wholesome! There was sex, murder and a lot of tense conversations between big men in big trucks. But how did it all end? Read on to see what went down and how it will change the futures of Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser).
- Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) calling Beth a “little bitch” in front of Rip? You’re lucky you’re only getting a punch, dude! Bonus points for Beth calmly smoking in the background.
- Ooh … nice brawl! Rip smashing Rob-Will into the grill of the truck was a clutch move.
- Smart of Beth to look at the cooked books quickly during the fight.
- Oh, interesting — I didn’t know how deep in the criminal enterprise Beulah (Annette Bening) was.
- Ugh, poor Everett (Ed Harris) is going to be heartbroken once he realizes that Beulah is a hardcore criminal.
- Wow, the Jacksons are sick people! Poor cows, getting split open to shove drugs into. I hate them!
- Buckets of drugs! So many drugs!
- Whoa, Harris is giving a suitably angry performance. Love the passion.
- Uh oh, this motorcade is daunting!
- Damn, is Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba) going to get everyone killed because he brought Mariano (Raoul Max Trujillo) in?
- And now Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) is pregnant?!? I can’t handle this … Jesus, take the wheel …
- “As my Daddy would say, I got myself raped.” I’m still mad at Beulah, but hearing her tell this story is heartbreaking.
- After all of this, we learn that the sheriff’s first name is … Handy?!? Good stuff, and great delivery from Beth.
- Aww, Zachariah (Marc Menchaca) and Azul (J.R. Villarreal) are so loyal. Love them for that!
- Beulah, you’ve been, err, accidentally dealing fentanyl for 15 years now? I don’t believe you!
- Bye bye, Beulah — you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay at Everett’s place!
- Carter (Finn Little) throwing a tantrum and living like a hermit really isn’t that exciting, sadly.
- Rob-Will is compulsive in his need to do the wrong thing every time.
- Classic Beth, barging into a business and chewing out the office manager: “Suck a dick, Denise.”
- Again, how stupid does Tommy (James Eddie) need to be to grab Beth?!? Fun to see him get immediately punched out.
- Laughing at Rip winching Tommy up into the sky by his belt. Hopefully, someone gets him down at some point!
- Love Beth jumping out of her truck and immediately pointing her shotgun at Beulah.
- Not to objectify the leads of the show, but Beth and Rip are wearing their hottest cowboy gear of the season in this episode. Let this sexy couple live in peace!
- I’m sure Carter and Oreana running away together will be totally smooth.
- “I want you to kill your brother.” Damn, I guess there’s a reason they call Mariano El Padrino!
- Ooh, this band sounds pretty good! They’re called the Ransom Brothers, for anyone who is curious.
- Who doesn’t love a good “preparing for war” sequence? They’re loading up so many guns!
- This shootout is so tense! Everett is the MVP considering he just learned he was going to be killing guys tonight.
- So many bodies! Where can they take all of these?
- “This place just eats what it loves and keeps the bones.” Err, who knew Rob-Will was such a poet?
- And that’s a wrap on Courtney! Rob-Will, we could have used more of your dirtbag energy this season, and are sad to see you go. Will Oreana avenge your death?
- I feel like the place they dumped all the bodies could be a little more remote …
- So getting Carter back is the new mission …
Until next season, riders and wranglers!
