Elijah Wood is ringing in the 25th anniversary of his The Lord of the Rings debut with an exciting new appearance this December.
Wood first appeared as Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s hit 2001 fantasy adaptation The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, reprising his role throughout the original trilogy that concluded with Return of the King in 2003. The actor then briefly appeared as Frodo in Jackson’s prequel The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in 2012, with Wood now confirmed to return in the cast of Andy Serkis’ The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, which is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 17, 2027.
Before properly returning to Middle-earth in The Hunt for Gollum next year, Elijah Wood will embark on an exciting multi-day celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at CCXP Brazil 2026. The pop culture festival’s headlining special event, Fellowship Forever, will include appearances from Wood on December 3 and 4, taking the stage for a different panel on each day and hosting photograph and autograph sessions both days.
Wood is just the first confirmed guest for CCXP 2026’s Fellowship Forever special celebration this December, as more from the original Lord of the Rings trilogy cast are expected to join the lineup as the event date nears. CCXP 2026 will take place in São Paulo, Brazil from Thursday, December 3 through Sunday, December 6, with the general sale for tickets and passes kicking off on June 10. The full schedule and additional activities for the 2026 iteration will be announced by the festival soon.
Last year, CCXP 2025 was headlined by Road to Hell, a special celebration of the 20th anniversary of the hit series Supernatural. The celebration brought back original Supernatural cast members Misha Collins, Kathryn Newton, Jim Beaver, Richard Speight, Jr., and Rob Benedict for panels, interviews, photo and autograph sessions, and more in São Paulo. Roberto Fabri, VP of Content at CCXP, has now called Elijah Wood’s announcement the best way to kick off this year’s follow-up celebration:
“CCXP has a tradition of celebrating major milestones in pop culture alongside the people who experienced them from the inside. In 2025, it was Road to Hell and the 20th anniversary of ‘Supernatural’. Now, in 2026, it’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ turning 25, and there’s no better way to kick off this celebration than with Frodo himself. Elijah Wood at CCXP26 is exactly the kind of announcement we make knowing festival fans have been eager to hear it.”
The festival’s 2025 lineup also included panels with The Lord of the Rings star Dominic Monaghan, who starred in the original trilogy as Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck. However, there’s no confirmation yet about whether Monaghan will be returning to Brazil in December 2026 to join Elijah Wood for the 25th anniversary celebration.
Created and produced by the Omelete Company, CCXP Brazil is the world’s largest pop culture festival, with the event having now expanded into Mexico and South Korea, the latter of which will debut in 2027. In April 2026, ScreenRant‘s own Liam Crowley took to the stage to moderate several panels for CCXP Mexico, including for Spider-Noir and Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
