Even Without ‘Reacher,’ Alan Ritchson Is Set to Win 2026 With the Biggest Year of His Career

There’s busy, and then there’s Alan Ritchson. The Reacher star has made a habit of consistently working, both on the hit Prime Video action series and in various other movie and TV projects, but his schedule leading up to this year has been another level of packed. While all eyes were on the growing world of Reacher, Ritchson has found a way to take on project after project, many of which are set to be released within just a few months of one another.

2026 has already seen Ritchson star in War Machine, which quickly became one of the biggest original movies in Netflix’s history, and we know that both Reacher and its spin-off series, Neagley, are coming out at the end of the summer. That would already be a packed year, but Ritchson has potentially four new films before the year comes to a close.

That’s right, for everybody counting along, that’s five full-length movies and two seasons of television arriving in the same calendar year. We’re just over halfway through that year and only one of those titles (War Machine) has been released. The next five or six months are going to bring you as much Ritchson as you could possibly handle.

New Alan Ritchson Movies This Year

The first of Ritchson’s big movie run actually arrives in just a couple of weeks, as Motor City hits theaters everywhere on July 24th. Director Potsy Ponciroli’s latest is technically considered a 2025 movie, because it premiered at the Venice International Film Festival last year, but this summer will mark its official public release from IFC Films.

About six weeks after that, Ritchson returns to the big screen with Runner, a Scott Waugh action-comedy that also stars Owen Wilson. The movie hits theaters on September 11th and sees Ritchson playing a former soldier who gets caught up in a dangerous situation with the Cartel while trying to protect an important “medical delivery.”

Later in the year, Ritchson will be venturing into a couple of less familiar territories. He is set to star in the Christmas thriller The Man With the Bag, which co-stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus, for Amazon. Instead of a theatrical rollout, that movie will debut on Prime Video on December 2nd.

He is also billed as one of the leads in an upcoming animated dance musical called Groove Tails, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Halle Bailey and Ludacris. According to IMDb, that film is scheduled to arrive in October, but that’s probably incorrect, given that the animation is still in production. With the animated work reportedly wrapping up later this year, a 2026 release date is still possible, though it feels like this one has a good chance of getting bumped to 2027.

Don’t Forget About ‘Reacher’

As if those movies aren’t enough, Ritchson also has not one, but two Reacher seasons arriving over the next couple of months. The wait is almost over for the highly anticipated fourth season of Prime Video’s Reacher, which will arrive on August 12th, adapting the Lee Child novel Gone Tomorrow.

Just over a month later, on the same day as the Reacher Season 4 finale, Prime Video will debut the highly anticipated spin-off series Neagley, which follows Reacher’s closest ally on her own mission. Maria Sten is reprising her role as Frances Neagley for the series and, obviously, appearing in each episode. Ritchson is taking part in the spin-off show, but we don’t know just how deep his involvement will be. It could be a single scene, or it could be multiple episodes. We’ll have a much better idea when the show arrives on September 16th.
