ExpressVPN just made a bold move: it finally introduced subscription tiers.
Previously, the only thing you could choose was whether you wanted to subscribe for a month, a year, or two years of ExpressVPN. This affected the pricing, but the features remained the same. Now, you can choose between Basic, Advanced, and Pro tiers to tailor the subscription to your needs.
Each tier comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, meaning that you can try out, risk-free, what TechRadar’s reviewers rank as one of the best VPN around. Subscribing for two years gives you four months of extra coverage for free, while a one-year plan gives you three months. Below, we’ll go over each new ExpressVPN subscription tier in detail to help you pick the one that works for you.
ExpressVPN Basic
The Basic tier gives you access to ExpressVPN’s virtual private network (VPN) service. It also includes an ad-blocking tool that works at the DNS level. This means the ad should never load because your device is unable to connect to the ad server in the first place. The Basic tier now covers 10 devices instead of just eight.
You can subscribe to the Basic plan for the equivalent of $3.49 per month if you choose a two-year plan, $4.99 per month on the one-year plan, or $12.99 per month if you prefer to pay on a monthly basis.
ExpressVPN Advanced
The Advanced plan expands coverage to up to 12 devices at a time. This plan offers everything that’s included in the Basic plan, but it also adds a built-in password manager, ExpressVPN Keys. You’ll get up to three days of unlimited eSIM data (Holiday.com) to stay connected on the go, too. ExpressVPN Advanced also includes identity monitoring to keep you safe during data breaches – but only for users based in the US at the time of writing.
The Advanced plan starts at $4.49 per month if you subscribe for two years. You’ll pay $5.99 per month for a one-year subscription, and $13.99 for a monthly commitment. Additionally, you can get up to 50% discount on Aircove, ExpressVPN’s Wi-Fi 6 router.
ExpressVPN Pro
This is ExpressVPN’s top subscription plan. In addition to everything else included in the previous tiers, ExpressVPN Pro gives you protection for up to 14 devices at once, five days of unlimited eSIM data, and your own dedicated IP address at no extra cost. For users in the US, identity monitoring expands to include credit reports and data removal, too.
This plan starts at $7.49 per month on a two-year subscription, $8.99 per month on a yearly plan, or $19.99 if you subscribe for a month.
Which plan is best for you?
With the introduction of three separate subscription tiers, it’s now easier than ever to pick what works well for you.
If you’re a casual user and just want to stay safe or to access certain websites and services when you’re in a different country, the Basic plan should do the trick. However, the Advanced plan adds a few key features, including a password manager, at a small increase in price, so it’s easy to recommend as the go-to option for most users.
