It’s been an agonizing wait already for Fallout fans looking to get their hands on Fallout 5, with the next mainline entry likely not to release for quite some time considering Bethesda is focused on The Elder Scrolls 6. Further, despite Bethesda’s newly announced restructuring, it doesn’t appear to have significantly changed Fallout 5‘s outlook.
Despite Fallout‘s renewed popularity following the TV series and interest in the franchise being as fervent as ever, the main updates in terms of video game releases at the moment remain via Fallout 76′s seasonal content updates. That said, the franchise’s continued success could help ensure a more expeditious development cycle once TES6 is finally finished (fingers crossed).
Additionally, Bethesda has also confirmed Fallout 5 will reflect events from the TV show canon, suggesting development is taking into account the series’ long-term impact on the game’s story and world. Regardless, whether you’re a longtime Fallout fanatic or just got interested in the IP thanks to Amazon’s television series, Fallout: Battle for Boston is an incredible new release that officially launches on July 31 (via Goblin Gaming).
Fallout: Battle for Boston is a brand-new upcoming release launching on Friday, July 31 that takes players to a new region in the form of a Fallout Factions expansion pack starter set. Fallout: Factions is a competitive tabletop miniatures skirmish game from Modiphius Entertainment that brings the Fallout universe to tabletop gamers through “fast-paced tactical battles.” The set is available currently at a discount for £80.00, with a list price of £100.00.
Originally centered on the Fallout 4 Nuka-World expansion, players command rival raider gangs like the Pack, Operators, and Disciples as they fight for territory, resources, and dominance across the Wasteland. Unlike the more narrative-driven Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, Factions incorporates a streamlined PvP-style tabletop combat mechanic, while still featuring an evolving campaign system where crews gain new equipment, perks, injuries, and experience between matches.
The game uses highly detailed 32mm miniatures, customizable rosters, and unique miniature terrain battlefields that, encouraging strategic positioning and clever use of each faction’s strengths. Recent expansions and the standalone Core Rulebook have broadened the available factions beyond the original raider gangs, allowing players to field iconic groups such as the Brotherhood of Steel and other familiar Fallout forces in ongoing Wasteland conflicts.
As far as Fallout releases go, Battle for Boston is probably more enticing than much of the recent video game content that’s launched in recent months. That said, if tabletop experiences aren’t your bag, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are still getting new content to this day, with Fallout 4 receiving new Creation Club downloads regularly and Fallout 76 getting regular seasonal content as well.
