Launched as the second part in the Final Fantasy VII remake series, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took the gaming world by storm when it was released back in 2024. With the third and final installment in the trilogy expected to launch soon, fans are using the opportunity to catch up on the 1997 remake ahead of its arrival and news of a free DLC is bound to inspire them further.
First released almost 30 years ago, Final Fantasy VII was met with widespread acclaim and was praised for its graphics, gameplay, music, and story, and is now regarded as one of the greatest and most influential games of all time, so it was no surprise when Square Enix announced that it would be releasing a remake split into three separate parts. Now with two installments already played and loved by fans, talk has turned to the third and final entry, but for now, players can look forward to some free DLC in the meantime.
With the news that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on 3 June, some lucky players can get their hands on it early, as well as get to enjoy some in-game freebies to unlock when the full game launches. Back on 28 April, Square Enix revealed that players would be able to check out a free demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S now. Containing the first two chapters of the game, players can experience a sneak peek at both Cloud’s Nibelheim adventure, as well as learn more about Sephiroth’s descent into madness. If you are still not convinced, check out Square Enix’s official blog post description:
The demo features Chapters 1 and 2 of the full game. In Chapter 1, Cloud Strife recalls a fateful moment from five years ago: “the Nibelheim incident.” Take control of a younger Cloud and the legendary war hero Sephiroth as they investigate the sudden appearance of monsters outside Cloud’s hometown. When a dark truth comes to light, the course of their lives and the fate of the planet will change forever.
As with many demos in recent years, any progress you make will be transferred to the full version of the game, but it is worth noting that the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is a whopping 40GB whilst the full game is expected to reach heights of 100GB, so you had better clear your Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S storage.
Last but not least, taking part in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo will see you bag yourself special in-game items which you can access when the full game launches. This includes a Kupo Charm, as well as a Survival Set which includes healing items, potions, and ethers.
