Final Fantasy: Dear Destiny Officially Announced For January 2027

[

Final Fantasy fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months, as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is officially gearing up for its launch in spring 2027. Part Three of the epic remake trilogy is sure to be one for the ages, and gamers have become more hyped than ever after the finale’s reveal at this year’s Summer Game Fest last month.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to finally conclude the Remake trilogy by adapting the original game’s final chapters while expanding them with new story elements and player choices, though these have been subject to great debate since its reveal at SGF. Gameplay promises to introduce seamless exploration through an expanded open world, while retaining the hybrid action-RPG combat from Rebirth.

However, if you’re looking to scratch your Final Fantasy itch ahead of Revelation’s official launch next spring, Dear Destiny is an incredible new adventure that was just officially revealed, and fans will want to mark their calendars for January 2027 (via Square Enix).

In a newly announced wave of upcoming releases from Square Enix (via Crunchyroll), fans of the Final Fantasy franchise and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will want to mark their calendars for January 28, 2027, as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Dear Destiny is officially slated to launch.

Dear Destiny is a new adventure from Kazushige Nojima that serves as a sequel to the hit Traces of Two Pasts novels, and follows the life stories of Aerith Gainsborough and Tifa Lockhart in the events leading up to the main narrative of Final Fantasy VII. This is the first entry in a new novel series, with the following plot description from the official Square Enix release page:

Tifa struggles with painful memories of Nibelheim while trying to both make a living at Seventh Heaven and evade the Turks’ investigation into Avalanche. Aerith finds a place for herself selling flowers in Midgar, all the while wondering and worrying about the absence of someone very dear to her. And an angel takes flight from a run-down church, leading to a reunion in the Sector 7 slums that will set the wheels of destiny in motion.

Dear Destiny is slated for release early next year for $26.99 USD, and will also include a bonus short story “set during Cloud’s time as a Shinra trooper.” It’s a perfect adventure to get fans geared up for the official launch of Revelation later in 2027, and will expand the backstory of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with brand-new details and context for two of the game’s most iconic characters.
