Game Of Thrones: Freedom In Essos Finally Brings Back Dany & The Unsullied

[

While the final seasons of Game of Thrones remain as divisive as ever, Daenerys Targaryen’s rise to power across Essos is still widely regarded as one of the series’ strongest story arcs. From liberating the Unsullied in Astapor to overthrowing the slave masters of Yunkai and Meereen, Daenerys gradually transformed from an exiled princess into one of the most powerful rulers in the world.

Although HBO’s adaptation condensed or omitted significant portions of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire storyline, her campaign to end slavery and build an army remains one of the franchise’s defining narratives. More importantly, it laid the foundation for everything that followed, as Daenerys would never have been able to sail for Westeros or lay a serious claim to the Iron Throne without the Unsullied, Grey Worm, or the reputation she forged during her years in Essos.

Now, that memorable chapter of her journey is returning in a brand-new way with Game of Thrones: Freedom In Essos, officially available now (via GoTC News).

Freedom In Essos is the newest and currently running event in Game of Thrones: Conquest, Warner Bros.’ long-running free-to-play mobile strategy game for iOS and Android, that challenges players to build a great house, expand their kingdom, train armies, forge alliances, and battle for dominance across Westeros. The title regularly introduces limited-time seasonal events inspired by iconic moments from both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, complete with exclusive heroes, gear, collectibles, and both PvE and PvP challenges.

Freedom in Essos celebrates Daenerys Targaryen’s legendary campaign to liberate Slaver’s Bay, revisiting the fall of Astapor, Yunkai, and Meereen that transformed her into one of the most powerful rulers in the world. Throughout July, players can earn the new Blazing Champion gear set, craft the Pristine Unsullied Helm trinket, recruit new heroes including Daemon Targaryen (The Rogue Prince) and Alyn of Hull, and collect Braavosi Loan trophies that can be exchanged for exclusive rewards during the event.

Key Freedom in Essos events include:

  • July 1–24: Freedom in Essos seasonal arc
  • July 1–3: Liberation of Meereen (PvE)
  • July 1–5: Sack of Astapor (Gear Crafting)
  • July 4–5: Battle of Yunkai
  • July 13–15: Uprising in Meereen (PvE Rally)
  • July 21–23: Bay of Dragons finale event

The update also features multiple power-up events, PvP competitions, and House of the Dragon crossover content throughout the month, giving players plenty of opportunities to strengthen their kingdoms while reliving one of Daenerys’ defining storylines. While it isn’t necessarily the ideal Game of Thrones strategy game that War of Westeros is promising to be, Conquest is well worth checking out, especially for fans of Dany who want to relive her epic rise to power.
